They both made stupid points. I think what the presenter meant to say is the porters In society don’t buy new cars…Sky News..
the poorest in society don’t drive in this country
Eh? They don’t?
I wish that presenter would come and work with me for a day and see just how little money some of our customers have, let alone the worry about swapping out their cars for something greener.
That would have been the line of questioning to go down but once it came out, it was hard to go back.
Not sure why this is a problem. If they are not doing the vast majority fully electric by 2030, they are probably stuffed anyway. They should be approaching the steep section of the S curve right now. From BBC:
"From January, just over a fifth of vehicles sold must be electric, with the target expected to hit 80% by 2030.
If they fail to hit the target, manufacturers will face heavy fines of up to £15,000 a car."
Doesn't sound like new ICE cars will remain affordable.

Firms still forced to sell more electric cars despite petrol ban delay
Car makers will still have to ensure over a fifth of cars sold are electric from 2024.www.bbc.co.uk
One of the quotes in the article talked about average used electric car prices being double ICE but fails to recognise that the vast majority of used electric cars are both newer and stacked with more premium cars. Without at least controlling for age, stats like that are just frankly misleading.
It also said used electric car prices are increasing despite them dropping like a stone over the last year.
Very sloppy from the BBC IMO, I’d expect this from the daily fail.
