EV general discussion

Well today my Model 3 Performance got picked up for some cosmetic repairs (debris on the motorway kicked up by a lorry), I have been provided with a Corsa E. Apologies if you own one and love yours, but honestly I am not a fan. Those that think the Model 3 is a non-premium car need to try a Corsa E!

paraphrasing @bigmike20vt

'I don't understand why people want fake stuff ...... but I like my fake stuff ' :D Doh!

Well we can just like it too :)
note my post was mostly tongue in cheek, and ultimately if it gets people in an EV then cool... however maybe i didnt make my point clear. I agree having a noise of some description actually has a function, mostly for knowing the mode your car is in, however why limit yourself to a petrol engine noise? EVs can be a lot more imaginative

as for pretend gears, again if it floats your boat then cool, (and again i was mostly joking...... my parents old woolsey had a crank handle you had to plug into front of the car on the outside which you had to get out and wind to start the car on a cold day, they should embrace that too ;)

From what I’ve seen the noise maker on the Abarth never changes gear so it’s just a constant done which just gets louder and louder with speed.

I don’t own one but sure the novelty of that would wear off in about 45 seconds, perhaps with the exception of your local chav upgrading their 1L fiesta with an obnoxious exhaust.

No it doesn't, bit of a drawback, it also can't be disabled easily, it's deep in sub menus, which makes it a bit of a faff, but that's just car manufacturers being crap at software, all manner of rubbish in these screen based UIs a simple button would fix.

Still its one of those things you use when you want to, country lanes around Wiltshire it was fun, on the motorway give me silence please.

It's fair to say with ITBs, 9krpm and obnoxious pipe on my track car, I am that guy......I give zero ....s :p Mr mid life crisis :D

'fake' stuff like traction control ? you could be driving the raw machine like the formula-E driver, but if the ioniq fake gear strategy, gives a machine that can be driven more easily,
because torque is mapped to something like an ICE that would be more fun - well, a different kind of fly by wire experience (using the fighter jet analogy, unfliable w/o electronics)

I-Pace went in for its battery recall check. Looks like just one cell needs replacing, but they are on back order so they are giving me the car back until they are ready to do the work. Bit annoying being limited to 75% SoC but not the end of the world.

Wanted to give an update on the situation my mum was in.

Recap: recently bought an electric car. Wouldn't charge at home on one charger, was intermittent on the other. Other (3rd) charger wasn't easily accessible. All chargers were different brands.

Actions required:

  • Landlord had to remove all charger schedules and remove himself from accounts. To be fair they responded quite quickly to this in the end.
  • Preferred charger wouldn't boot up - hence why not working at all. A few forced resets and now working when "boost" button enabled.

Now all working.

Next steps: move to Octopus Intelligent Go tariff, based on calculated usage.

Does anyone know if you can go on the Intelligent Go tariff for Electric but use the Tracker tariff for Gas? Seems like intelligent only does your leccy.

Cheers in advance :-)

Yes. It is what I do. However given we are about to hit peak pricing for gas over the cold period, I'd wait until April/May.

You can only leave/rejoin every 9 months IIRC.
