EV general discussion

Come on the what did they end up giving away with it? The deals were so good last month, also was it the SE Sport or SE Exclusive?

Sport :)

Not much really. Extra year of warranty and cheaper PCP. Probably could have pushed for more, but it was recently reduced in price, so I’ll take it. Considering the price they offered for mine, I wasn’t too bothered, especially considering it needs a big service. They aren’t taking money until picking it up either. At the end of the day it’s just a work A to B car.

Probably could have increased the deposit, but whatever, still cheaper than I’m paying now.

I’m weirdly excited about it considering it isn’t some kind of AMG or RS.

Looks good, extra years warranty is nothing to be sniffed at if you are on the hook for the PCP still. Also if you got a nice trade in price you can always pay something off the PCP if the APR is high to lower the over all costs. You got GAP?

Yes, just added GAP. Great thing is my wife has already done the homework, so I can just copy off her :p

Will then see how the granny charger keeps us going, or whether it’s time to go all in. Only do about 20 miles a day, so no idea how much battery I’ll use.

I normally charge at home but needed a very quick boost charge so popped to my local KFC which has 6 Instavolt fast chargers only to find that 5 of them had both cables cut with a chainsaw so only 1 was operational. Luckily I only had to wait 10 min for the guy that was using the only undamaged one to finish but it is galling to have to deal with this wanton vandalism.

Apparently the reason is for the copper inside the cables, so I was wondering if anybody else has seen this.

It was nice of them to leave one!

Yes, that's the one.

While I was there a guy parked up for 5mins and then got out to start charging his car only to realise all the rest had been cut. He couldn't wait the 20 minutes longer I was going to be so shot off as he said he will be soon running on fumes. ;)

He was from Leeds and said he has the same problem by him and the day before he had to wait 6 hours for his car to charge as the only one he could find was a slow charger.

Last time filling up with petrol hopefully. Wasn’t a great experience either, most were shut and had to queue for ages. All I had to do to our other car this morning was unplug it. Don’t do long journeys anymore, so don’t have to factor that in.

when google bought waze they were supposed to be sorting an all singing and dancing charge planner that would utilize real time updates(api) on charger availability
(is there already a better app on cars using android automotive polestar/peugot)

Oh look another question. Its barely an issue in the real world.

Not sure why Waze would be then better than anything Google Maps would be offering anyway....

Abetterrouteplanner seems to be pretty good at this!

Absolutely gobsmacked last night.
So like most of us with EV and Octopus Intelligent Go we plug in, it gives us a schedule and then we can see when we can use the washer, dryer and dishwasher for cheap electric.
Her Sister asked if we were saving electricity/money since the change and we are saving £70 a month
She did take into account the £40 she spent on petrol compared to the £2 we spend on electric for the EV.

Just got back from a meal and saw a bloke with the same EV so got talking to him.
He already has iGo but had no idea about using electric when it's cheap, in fact he said he would normally get home and just charge the car instead of iGo doing it.
Hopefully he takes it all in what some of you advised me.

He probably gets home and plugs the car in then iGo only charges it when it's cheap

I honestly struggle to see how you would save £30 on the normal electricity bill from moving to iGo unless you've shifted one load of washing and drying every single day to off peak

edit: also £2 in electric at 7.5p gets you about 100 miles which isn't £40 of petrol so someone's doing some dodgy maths

yes I've been using a better route planner since it allows waypoints - but for real time navigation it's verbal instructions were poor especially notice for leaving duel carriageways off-ramps;
so I now prepare a route with it and transfer it to google maps, and, if I remember turn off the live data to google maps as otherwise it can still take stupid diversions - nobody's perfect., need one ring ..
