EV general discussion

In fairness, the original point was effectively 'Doesn't the MG4 Xpower already do this?' in response to a video questioning whether "the e-208 GTI is the electric hot hatch we've been waiting for" and it's probably not an entirely unreasonable perspective.

I'm not convinced there's anything particularly revolutionary about the e-208 GTI in reality, to warrant that sort of clickbait titling.
Oh I know but then it's just been endless MG whatever the car is Kool-Aid which no one has asked for.

Biased. Absolutely. I have an MG4 and actually know what it's like to drive Vs most people on here just not liking it because it's Chinese probably.
I actually test drove it as a car to buy because it was cheap, in fact twice, I've no issue with Chinese, my Volvo is Chinese, the MG just wasn't very good, it is OK to have a different opinion.

TBH I wouldn't buy the car I am driving either :D the package is flawed but I like the drive, as a cheap rental it made sense to me whilst I figure out what I really want.

Cars are not just about speed, either. There are endless examples of cars that are great to drive, and great fun, but aren't all that fast.

Unsurprising when the responses are just to call the MG **** to dismiss the idea rather than anything constructive about what the e-208 GTI is bringing to the table, which probably says a lot in itself.
Lot of very insecure people here who seem to take it personally when people don't like the car that they own... seems mad to me to get so exercised about it. Whether it's an MG today or Tesla owners in the past etc.

On the actual topic, I've owned an e-208 before and will not be owning another in future whether it has 300+ bhp or not ;)

We have an abarth 600e coming next week, which I've never even driven (but wife's car so not my problem, plus was from the bargain basement deal a few months ago). Would be interesting to drive all the "hot" stellantis cars back to back and test how different or otherwise they feel

Not sure where to ask this, so will try here:
Does anyone know how long it takes to switch to OIG? (intelligent Go)

I pick up my Tesla on Wednesday (5pm apparently), so once I do the test charge and request to change, is it almost instant? or are we talking days/weeks?

I'm on my first and last foray with Stellantis products at the moment so I can understand that sentiment :D
It's funny, I wouldn't buy my Abarth after test driving it as it was strong money for what it offered and only ended up in one as I was car less and 5k for 2 years on the 600e Comp was easy to swallow, been in it 3 months one stint on track and yeah I am looking at them second hand :D

Of course it did break down before I even received it hence the extra cheap deal with free servicing but been good since, right where's that wood.:D

Just from the underneath of my mates 18month old MG5, he's an MX5 owner and has never seen anythng so bad and MX5s are rust buckets :o :D he's is not impressed especially as he bought it and owns it, not a lease to hand back. There is enough evidence on the MG forums to back this up, he is not alone.

Only goes up and down the M5 Bristol to Gloucester, not exactly by the sea or anything.

I'll take real data over an anecdote on the internet.

I don't care if you don't like the car I own (I don't even own the car I'm saying is a better buy than the e208 GTI). Everyone likes different things. The issue I have is that people started challenging aspects of the Xpower with nothing more than thoughts and feelings.

I post a video showing that the Xpower is considerably faster off the line than two supercars, a feat that the e208 GTI will probably not be able to match (can't be sure as no one has done the test) simply because it doesn't have the horse power plus it is front wheel drive only. That is met by but but but the two supercars were broken.

Then people claimed it was only fast in a straight line. So I posted a video showing it going around the Ring in a very respectable time in line with other hot hatches. This was then met with but but but this other car that can do it 5 seconds faster has less horsepower so that must mean the Xpower is rubbish round corners, neglecting to mention the other car has a much higher top speed than the X power and the nurburgring is kind of famous for have multiple high speed straights.

I'm the only one here presenting evidence for my opinion. Yet I am the delusional one apparently.

I guess this BMW M2 must be a bit broken:

Maybe this Audi E-Tron GT had a flat tyre or something:

This rally driver seems pretty convinced of its handling ability but what does he know:

It is only my opinion though. But if people are going to bash me and start calling me delusional perhaps bring some evidence rather than hurt feelings and name calling.

If I had to choose between the 208 and Corsa, it will be the Corsa because of the 208's very unique dashboard!

Also the xpower is 3.8 seconds to 60 versus the 208/Corsa at 5.5

Are you lot actually comparing a very practical family carrying electric heavy car with a dedicated track focussed two seater petrol car?

What the what?

Look we all know that Leafs are the peak of EV traffic light GP performance, they're a performance vehicle don't you know.

I am getting creepy stalker vibes off of this comment.

Leaf performance is pretty impressive though for a £3000 over 14 year old car. Beats most ICE cars off the line.
