Recently tried EVE and WoW on trials, thought they were both quite good and ive decided to try a subscription for either, but i dont know which to pick.
I would pick myself, but i dont think ive played long enough to see the whole game.

Any one got any advice?

And a couple of questions:
Which is better in terms of how long you canplay before, play becomes reptitive?
Which is better long term for begginers?
Which is more user friendly and easy to pick up?

Also which do you think is best?

In terms of gameplay Eve will out last WOW and then some, there are a massive amount of things to do in Eve, limited only by your imgination.

For beginners, WOW is new player friendly, Eve has an incredibly steep learning curve - I have played for 2 years and am still learning.

IMO Eve is the better of the two for long term, as you can do whatever you like :) Plus a small rabble of 6 month players can easily kick the rear end of a 2 year or more old player - it's all down to experience, and tactics (ship setups) :)

I've found Eve to be a bit like Marmite. You either love it or really really hate it. I played it for a while, found it dull and uninspiring. I played WoW for ages, found the end was, well, the end.

I recommend WoW over Eve, but it's up to you.

Indeed it all depends on what you like :) on here you will probably only get peoples opinions - I hated WOW :p I love Eve, hard to advise on either really - it all depends on what you love in games

Both excellent MMORPGs.

Having a busy lifestyle means that Eve's learning system really suits me. I can set long skill training, go off on holiday and come back and be able to fly new ships or use new weapons. So whilst I haven't made any extra money, the time isn't "wasted" as such.

I love the lack of "leveling" in EVE
it doesn't matter (realy) how much time you spend on the game, as training is done offline AND online your not at a dissadvantage at any time
that said, its steep learning curve can be hard to master, but its worth it in the end

Hmm

Neither lol.

But If its your first MMO then maybe WoW you will find more to do much much bigger community.

If you want a quailty MMO with a Mature playerbase, not including gate campers, then EvE.

I warn you eve is a big commitment, its literaly months before you have the skillbase to use the large ships, and theres no way you can speed it up by playing more.

like the other guy said its like marmite, you will know in a month if you can be botherd to keep playing.

Its the sort of game i think you needed to be playing from Day 1 and be part of the founding crew in 0.0 space. Otherwise its just big laggy Space zergs.

both great games and i have played and still do play them both.

EvE is cool at the start where u do missions etc and try earn money and try and get new ships etc, and as i did play the market with buyign and selling minerals to diff ppl which i found really good fun.

WoW is also good at the start, looking around the landscape, lvling up is fast and getting new skills is always cool, and the quests a re really good fun and it not long before you start shouting out "LFG to do X quest"

The only 2 that seperates the 2 is the end game for me and more specifically PvP.

I never really got into EvE's pvp because its so crap yah pants scary! you play the game for about 6 months or more if your casual gamer and it can all be lost in a second of a stupid mistake or some1 else cruelty.

Image that you've worked really hard for a Battle ship, you've got it kitted out with some cool gear, your just messing about before doing a jump and all of sudden you've accidently targeted the coppers and shot at them! You now dead in a stupid little egg (pod) and in tears behind your screen cause you just lost a stink load of stuff, sure you may of had insurance but that doesn't account for your weapons/mods/drives etc. Yes it is a long shot you may do this but ppl have done it before, i've done it but thankfully only in a crappy frigate but i was still pretty gutted at the time. What am trying to say is in EvE you can lose a lot of man hours by little mistakes or if your flying in a low security area and some1 attacks you and kills you.

WoW on the other hand, you can dip in and out and do a battle ground whenever you like really (que depending), have a bit of fun and log off safe in the knowledge you ganked some stinking mage and ran off laughing.

The only problem about WoW is you need to be in a big guild to do big raid instances, but this wont be the case when the expansion comes out and they bring out 10 new instances for 5-10man raids which is your usual random group.

Up to you really dude.

Imo the best thing about an MMO is the fear of being killed, and losing yir gear to some nasty PKer.

Kill or be killed!

I hate this carebear system that most MMOs have, i mean what is the point in player killing if you have nothing to gain from it ? :/

Long live UO!

;)

Hmmmmmm, kinda angling for EVE at the moment.

Just a quick Q:
Does EVE's skill times get annoying, say if you need to wait a week? Is it possible to learn a skill which allows you to learn more than 1 thing a once?

Eve because the possibilities are so endless. But i warm you it WILL take over your life. And yea you really dont have to mine if you dont want to.

I played Eve and found it mind numbingly boring really. There was nothing to do apart from mine or do silly missions which were both boring. It would take a good few months before I could compete with anyone for anything and at least 6+ months before I could compete in PvP and even then I could loose it all in a split second. It was, however, one of the best thought out games ive ever played and strangely addictive. Its a good game, you just need patience because its very slow.

As for WoW... well its not exactly great either. The PvP is a complete and utter waste of time and there is not much to do once you have hit the level cap. Sure its fun to grind with your mates, but then isent every MMO the same in that respect?

EVE Online, anyday.

So easy, no grinding, no emphasis on levels.

And you dont have to mine, just borrow some money, maybe 1 mill off someone from the forums, theres bound to be some wealthy person about, then just trade it, buy low sell high, went from around 1.5million to 20million in the first week that way, that was just with a Iteron III.

GL, and wathc out for pirates :)

Try reading my post. I said when you start.

I don't think that counts anymore
you make more money with PVE missions than mining when you start anyway.

considering how slow that would be though its not exactly much of a game is it?

watching a ship u can't control just moving on the screen to where u wanna drop off your minerals, the excitement lol.

you sir where in the wrong corp
a good corp/alliance will use you as a new player where your best placed, thats not beling blown up first tbh.
a 1 month old noob can have enough ECM skills to hold down a battleship, or warp scam a ship.
PVP is less about 1v1 or 2v2 and more about fleet battles
