EVE >>>> WoW

out of curiosity do you think its more beneficial (big word) to play pirate or bounty hunter?
I know you can ransom as a pirate but does it work both ways?

With the current game mechanics, no, bounty hunting sucks. Once a pirate's bounty gets to 'x' amount, he or she gets a friend to kill them and they split the cash.

BUT!!1 the closest profession to a bounty hunter is Mecenery. There are currently some very successful Merceneries in EVE, namely the Mecenery Coalition (an alliance of 4 large-ish corporations: Body Count Inc., Sharks With Frickin' Laser Beams [coolest name in game tbh], The Corporation and North Star Networks)

There is a difference between a bounty hunter and a Mecenery... Literally they are guns for hire, absolutely no regard for who their target is as long as the price is right. That does require a certain trait to be able to shrug off all personal grieviences and grudges.

Pirating is probably the coolest role.. you just shoot whoever you want, but have to deal with the consequences (such as negative security status preventing you from entering 0.5+ systems else you get wtfbbq'd.)

But pierats do smell.

If they bring out factional warfare with stats medals and it affects all of us then that will be the day I quit, I left BF2 for a reason

ditto, the factional warfare I'm so-so about, depending on where they go with it... the ONE thing that has made EVE so successful is the lack of 'RvR' i.e. you are not fixed to fight for one race.

but the medals/stats will just annoy me, if they are just harmless titles then I won't care, but if they provide stat-boosts then I'll not bother playing anymore.

I agree medals would be cool, but a long as no stat bonuses would be attached.

Is there any good corps to look up?

tough one. played both.

played eve for over a year. played WoW for about 4 months.

I prefered eve, but I was an eve-radio DJ, made the game loads more interactive, to the point of not actually having time to play the game! :)

Which DJ were you?

Hehe, I was playing BF2 once and joined a server. I looked at the score board and saw none other than ethidium_bromide there, he and Gotchy were legends :D

It's difficult to recommend a Corp without breaking OcUK's rather odd pimping rules; try to find one that is helpful to noobies. IMO getting in a good Corp is the single most important thing to do as a beginner, it has has helped me greatly. I doubt I would still be playing if it weren't for them.

It's fine to offer advice.
It's threads or posts that are simply there to pimp servers/clans/guilds that are not allowed. If someone asks for a recommendation though, it's fine.

OK, thanks Haly.

If you need a good starter Corp look up Fw4ppers. It's a starter (or 'feeder') Corp for a much larger (i.e. 0.0 based) Corp. We are here specifically to help new players and guide them on to bigger and better things.

Most starter ships and items are free to share, we just ask that you are mature and willing to play as a team, and we absolutely will not tolerate idiots.

If you need more info my email is in Trust.

Hey m8y, myself and a couple of friends are looking for a pirate corp to join, we are roughly around your level, accounts are 2 years old but have been inactive for aggggeesss so we dont have that much skill points... Well enough to fly a Thorax and equip it anyway.

Guessing by the post yir in a nice corp, are they interested in recruiting ?

Cheers.

Ingame name. The corporation is called "Angel Deep". Alternativly give Sniggerdly a shout. They also have one of these feeder corp's called Snigwaffe or something. Their a pirate corp and pretty well known.

Our corp 'Veto' has +10 standings with Snig. We don't have +10 with many people ;).
