Ever met anyone famous? Were they like what you expected?

Met Johnny Vegas in Manchester years ago, he was bladdered so was pretty much as I expected him to be :D

And Bernard Manning came into a café I worked at when I was younger...he was a big fella :o

Met Ferenc Puskas when I was 13/14'ish? My old man ref'd a game between Wales and Hungary (u15s - I think) and he was there.. Witnessed me do the Maradona 7 too - was chuffing for months! Real nice guy. Haven't met anyone famous since and I'm now 25 :(

I've met loads and most are just as you'd expect them to do - normal people.

A few love themselves way to much though :(

Surreal one for me.... sort of....

Was at the good old Catholic wake for the granny of the lass I was engaged to (about 20 years back now). Our lass introduces me to the various branches of the family I've not met yet, stopping at one fella and introducing him as "our David".

Was getting slowly more hammered and mentioned to our lass that "I'm sure I recognise David.... black suit, black shirt/tie, black hair, white streak in the hair. I've seen him somewhere before".

Our lass says "oh aye, he's the lead singer of The Damned".

ffs our lass, you kept that one quiet didn't you?!

Never married her and never saw "David" again.... felt weird seeing the guy from The Damned that was all gothic, done up all gothic at a funeral. Totally in character all the time as well. Nice bloke though, didn't seem "famous" at all.

Chris Evans - monumental douche, may have been the drink though.

Gary Lineker - surprisingly tall! Didn't really speak, seemed ok though.

Top Gear presenters at various times, Clarkson is a bit up himself, Hammond is a genuinely nice bloke and James May is very abrupt when he wants something..

Most of the McLaren technical staff and drivers - Hamilton and Button - both of them very nice guys.

Also Jake Humphries, Martin Brundle, Eddie Jordan, David Coulthard.

Can tell I used to work in a pub owned by an ex-racing driver..

Westy, is that pub down here in Plymouth?

I met Ruth Davidson once. She looked absolutely terrified as I approached her and went to shake her hand. I don't imagine she's used to that in Glasgow!

My girlfriend got a birthday card from Kevin Bridges.
My mum used to live with Lenny Hendry.
I got into an altercation with a Celtic player in the Garage once. I had no idea who he was until my friend told me once I left him alone.

Also met a bunch of Aberdeen FC players over various years.

Oh also drank with Idlewild on their tour bus.

Took a wizz next to Sir Bobby Robson at Euro 2004...that was an odd one.

Richard Hammond has his helicopter in the hangar next to ours at work, so I see him every now and then and say hi.

Had a couple of pints with Paul Gasgoine before he went truly mental, good lad he was.

Oh, and I touched a playboy models boobs...Natalie Denning I think.

Doubt any of you will know of him, but I met Vitalic the French electro/techno producer on Friday night and he couldn't have been anymore down to earth, chilled and a genuinely nice guy.
I had just proposed to my girlfriend during his set, and he was so happy for us that he invited us to London for his next gig. His manager also gave us his personal phone number and email address to sort it out :)

Anne Robinson, she came in to the cookware shop I worked at (Le Creuset). She was exactly as you'd expect.

Question: What the hell does "down to earth" really mean?

Also, does a porn star count?

"Down to earth", as opposed to being too high and mighty to dignify fans with anything other than an awkward, fake smile.

Just like a regular person really.

In 1992 I met Sally Gunnell as she was arriving back from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, where she had won gold in the 400m Hurdles. I was about 11 at the time, and she took the time to chat to me and my brother, and even let us wear her Gold Medal! Also said hello to Linford Christie, but he was the one all the photographers were trying to get shots off.

More recently, I was at the Lafta Comedy Awards this year, so met various people. Rob Brydon was probably the nicest. Got to have a photo with him.

Jimmy Jones the comedian who seemed nice enough and said I was a good'un after he and his support act picked on me :D

Otherwise closest I've got to meeting a celeb was Chris Ewbank who was on the same flight as me when coming back from Ireland. Didn't speak but he was kind enough to let me off the plane first :)

I was working in a trendy little Soho art gallery and the guy who played DI Burnside in
The Bill came in while I was minding shop.
I offered him a cup of tea, he declined.

The end.

They used my grandma's house to film an episode of The Bill once :D

Was a scene involving a foot chase through a London suburb house

I can see why some famous people are ####. If I was famous I would be glad to sign stuff for people etc especially if people look up to you, don't wanna go down as an ahole

I met Henry Cooper as a kid and he was the perfect gent. Fantastic fella who dropped a certain Cassius Clay on his arse.

In my last job I was in Scotland and staying at a hotel near Glamis and struck up a conversation with a bloke at the bar. He had to go, pleasantries exchanged and away. The barmaid said you've no idea who he is have you ? It was only rock legend Jeff Beck.
