Ever met anyone famous? Were they like what you expected?

Nobuo Uematsu and Dir en Grey is the only group of famous people I've met. Pretty amazing experiences if I'm to be honest.

Brian Clough. Circa 1998.

I worked in Dewhursts Butchers in Derby and we opened at 8 am. There was me and 2 other Butchers, one being a MASSIVE Derby fan and 2 girls who did the serving for us. He popped his head in the door as it was open as we had tables outside for meat packs etc and we were setting up. We wasn't actually open for business as it was just past 7:30 but we said come in and have a seat. The Derby fan was chatting to him for ages and we found out that he wanted to go to Natwest bank across the street to sort some things out. We happily let him wait in the shop, all the time talking and having a laugh whilst we continued to finish setting up. The women from the bank used to wait out side our shop for the branch key holder to turn up for security reason I presume. We told the staff about Brian Clough wanting to go in and sort out some issues and they let him in before the bank opened and helped him out. He came across to us after and thanked us and bought some meat.

As the girl was putting the pack of meat in his bag she noticed loads of money just lying at the bottom of the bag which we thought strange.

Later that day when we went to bank some cash the woman that helped him said he withdrawed 10K in cash. She said he called a few days prior to arrange the cash transaction. We felt sorry for him a little as he did look ill and probably not all there at that time as I think he was ill around that time.

tldr:Cloughy, took 10k from bank bought some meat and looked ill. Nice chap though.

Met Johny Vegas a few times, last time outside the local spar as he was getting some beer in. despite being fairly famous for some of his roles he is very much like your average joe public. no glittz, no flash car clothes or jewelry. nice guy.

Met three that I can think of off-hand.

Terrence Hardiman (Demon Headmaster, more recently in Dr Who). Was in my shop asking about lightbulbs. Took me by surprise initially, but was a nice bloke.

Burn Gorman (Torchwood, latest Batman film). A total up-himself douche. Used to live in my town, but not a decent bloke. Quite happy he moved away. I cringe whenever I see him in something.

Gloria Hunningford (TV Presenter). She still lives nearby to my town and I see her quite often. Actually knows my name as I've helped her a few times in my shop. She seems quite nice.

That's 2/3 who aren't idiots. Not massively high-profile, but high profile enough.

Harvey Keitel sat outside a cafe in Prague having lunch.
Megadeth in Newport when our bus driver decided to leave us stranded
Keith Flint @ Phoenix Festival 199?, just wandering through the stalls
David Wilkie - School Swimming award photo when I was 7 or 8

All a great bunch of lads :)

More recently met Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß, the lead singer of the Beatsteaks (who I'm fairly sure no one will have heard of but they are awesome) he was really nice... and very short.

.

Slightly tenuous link, but the TV in our hotel room in Prague had 'I dont care as long as you sing' on loop on one channel when we were in Prague and met Harvey Keitel.

The only person ive met and talked to so far famous is Brann Dailor the drummer from mastodon.

There was a few of us waiting to go and see them live and he ran round the corner and just stood near the door with us just like hey..
Was a really cool guy just to stand there and talk to us about stuff fans had given him etc and everyone was really good with him too like no one was some crazy obsessive fan.

I've met Amy Dumas (Lita) of WWE fame when she came into my work to promote WWE few years ago. She's actually quite short, picked at her salad in the restaurant but pleasant enough to chat to given I kept the conversation way off the WWE path due to my distinct lack of knowledge on that subject! She was accompanied by Dave Batista who is no where near his billed height of 6 ft 6 in. The guy was roughly a head taller than me (if that) and he looked like he'd get his **** handed to him on a plate should he ever get into a real fight in a pub in Scotland!

// Edit - Apparently Batista is in the new Riddick film. Suppose we've all got to do something to keep the money rolling in. :p

I met sir geoff hirst at a book signing and he was the most arrogant ******* i have ever met . Wasnt intrested in talking to fans and wanted £10 for a book signing and £20 to have a photo taken with him .

saw jimmy carr walking around newcastles city centre and he seemed happy to chat to people as he was having a nosey around the city centre but I didnt bother to wander over.

My ex worked on a short film that melanie brown (scary spice) was in and she offered to get a signed autograph sent to my ex's son.
nothing ever turned up even though it was her that asked if my ex had any kids and offered the autographed photo........ (yes she did take our address)

Ian McCulloch and John Simms walked into my bar a few years back.
I poured them both a Guinness and had a gab with them at the bar.

They were decent blokes and were not orifices.
