Ever met anyone famous? Were they like what you expected?

In the mid-1990s I met the Liverpool, Derby, Manchester United, Everton, Blackburn and Leeds squads each year. Most of the players were professional and just got on with things.

Neville Southall liked his **** jokes.
Gary Speed. He was totally naked.
Robbie Fowler was a exactly as you would expect him to be.
Jamie Rednapp was very nice.

Burn Gorman (Torchwood, latest Batman film). A total up-himself douche. Used to live in my town, but not a decent bloke. Quite happy he moved away. I cringe whenever I see him in something.

I was sat opposite him on the underground coming from Canary Wharf about a year ago, he had dark shades on and a baseball cap trying not to be recognised. A few people did however recognise him and started whispering and pointing, he immediately pulled his t-shirt up over his face and almost curled up into a foetal position to hide - and bailed off the train at the next station. Very odd reaction!

Beat this, was at Gadget Show Live when we were running the OcUK stand (I'm enjoying this way too much :( )

Hover hands!

In 1974 I was catching the London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded; I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat beside a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies; buckaroo! I looked up and saw it was none other than Peter Purves, it was the height of his Blue Peter career. He said, "You jammy *******" and quick as a flash, I replied, "Don't be blue, Peter!"

I was working as a contractor at National Magazine Co. The IT dept was directly opposite the the Good Housekeeping kitchen.

One one particular day, "Challenge Anneka" was being recorded in the kitchens so plenty of famous people in and out all day. They were making a celeb cookery book if I recall. Jo Brand was leaning on the coffee machine to wish I politely asked her to budge.. :p

I once also sat next to Terry Venables in reception at a private bank in London.. Again i was a contractor and he was Spurs manager at the time. I didn't say much as i had to keep things professional.. but i struggled not to ask him for his autograph..

Kim Deal (Pixies/Breeders) - she was a little odd, she was a touch worse for wear though :)

I sat in front of Ant and Dec on a plane from Newcastle to London when I was about 9, they seemed normal enough.

I'm sure there have been others but they haven't left a lasting impression.

I had a pint and watched a rugby match with Bono. I always thought he'd be a knob, but he was actually really sound.

My mate and I were at a pub called Finnegans in Dublin (off school for the weekend), and we were sitting on top of the chairs at the back to see over the screen to watch the match (Ireland Vs France I believe), and Bono walks in with a bunch of Americans who were tonguing his arse. Once they left he came over and asked if he could sit with us to watch the game and offered us a pint. We refused and offered one in return all awkwardly.

We told him we were off for the weekend from school and he said his bassist went to our school too (we already knew this, as it was a bit of an urban legend that one of our teachers had told him to put down his guitar or he'd never get anywhere in life), I told him I'd just been expelled and he said "oh, he got expelled too" and laughed. He seemed a decent bloke and knew his rugby quite well too.

All in all, 5 stars, would hang out with Bono again.

Nelson Mandela - an awesome, magnetic person

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Took her husband (Des?) to South Africa v Samoa in South Africa for the 1995 RWC.

The 1995 All Black World Cup Rugby team. Trained with them in the gym. Shook hands with Sean Fitzpatrick who was relatively short but about as wide as he was tall. Genuinely nice guy.

Spoke to jay z backstage at the hackney weekend, real nice bloke and didn't mind chatting for a few minutes.

Met a few footballers around London, some are nice and some are just idiots.

World famous:

Geri Halliwell. She had booked a booth at a club after a friend of mine's timeslot. We briefly chat, had a boogie (she groped my butt!), and was very grateful when we helped out her minder when he needed the loo by stopping punters from hoarding her. :D

Famous in their own circles:

Extended drinks and chats with the following:
Mike Koglin - Lovely chap.
Agnelli & Nelson - Good laugh, even though they hate my favourite track they did.
Matt Darey - Up himself.
Alex Morph - Haha, good laugh, guy likes a drink!
