Evo Triangle: Your fun is up.

It is why things like the MX5 are so much fun. Get a good Mk1 with 115bhp and forget all the modern cars you may be used to and it can be as good as it gets. Steering, brakes, gearbox, balance all from the stop draw (steering needs right set up). The problem is we are all use to 200bhp+ pocket rockets so the MX5 feels slow but get past that, great.
I can fall out of love with driving on a regular basis but a run to the coast in my mk1 MX5 always re-lights the fire. My one is bone stock apart from a stainless exhaust for more aural drama and I don't plan on changing that any time soon. Only thing it desperately needs is a wheel alignment which I'll do at MOT time.

I was going to get shot of it in April but my wife convinced me to keep it. Now if only I could find an ISOFIX boot rack I may actually still be able to use it after July :o

Wasn’t silver one on a Sunday around 5am in 2008ish was it? If it was it was nearer 200mph I believe I ‘heard’
Nah it was a weekday back in 2019, it was silver however and pretty sure it had German plates as for the nanosecond I saw, it didn't have a yellow number plate. I was on my way to Derby to pick up a turbo. Saw it coming in my rear view when overtaking a TNT lorry, by the time I had overtaken the lorry, the Porsche was nearly on me and went past at a colossal speed. I actually enjoyed it as I was looking stunned :D:eek:

I feel like this video is relevant. Occurred during lockdown

Not really.

The stupidity of that person driving that speed with traffic around while holding the steering wheel with one hand and filming it on their phone is beyond comprehension.

I hope they are spending time inside. But last I heard of it was last year.

It's very unlikely they got caught. I think they took their plates off too (they would be stupid is they didnt).

I think that both the driver and passenger were arrested about four weeks later. I don't know what happened after that, though. Probably pending a court case or similar, given the way things have been going.

I'm not sure it'd really matter if you pulled the plates, these days, either. It'd make things harder, of course, but the number of cameras around means that it's presumably not impossible to work out where a car came from and where it went. Narrows your search area, at least...

They would find them easily enough. People who film it like that will leave themselves open to being found. CCTV everywhere these days, copper, cup of coffee and access to the CCTV network would probably be able to track them back to where they came from or went to.

Why don't cars these days prevent you from going over say, 100mph, unless you have both hands on the wheel?

On the phone point, I have noticed over the last 3 or 4 years so much looking down as they drive driving, not least the young as they check social media.

The amount of people who post videos to their Instagram story while they're quite obviously driving and waving the phone around is quite impressive.

Agreed fella, that's abasolutely disgusting and I hope they get banned. We've all sped at one otime or another, but that is 100% unaccetpable on a public road, he has a blowout and he's wiping out others. Makes me really angry that I have to admit!
