Agreed. This is how our parliament is supposed to work after a result such as this. The government is held properly to account and softer policies are introduced that must, by necessity, be closer to the middle ground between the two main parties.

So soft brexit then??
The fact they needed to throw their policy into chaos to get this vote through must massively embolden Remainer and Soft-Brexit MPs.

A Conservative on the Today programme this morning couldn't answer whether or not the pay cap was under review. When they're paralysed like that already, it cant bode well.

Well considering the thing that was most memorable about it was 300+ Tory MP's cheering when they heard fire and police officers were going to be getting a real world pay cut for the 7th year running, I think it went just grand.

Keeping corbyn out of no. 10 is more important.

Why.... It's clear he's not the worst with the economy anymore? We have loads of money.....

May has just put a pair of trousers on she hasn't wore in a while..... And found 1bn in her back pocket... How lucky is that!

That's after telling a nurse we have no money. We are likely to be having a hard brexit and I think even leavers can agree it is going to make us worse off... At least in the short to medium term. All this was caused due to Tory in fighting. How they get the reputation for being good with the economy I don't know. We have the worst growth in the whole of the EU. Worse than greece.

Its only a matter of time, the conservatives are damaged goods clinging on. That amendment was never going to pass and no one thought it would as, like you say they are considered a vote of confidence in the leader and she currently hold £1B worth of confidence.

Labour said before they even tabled it, it was a test bed to sound out what level of rebels there are within the ranks and as yet that is still unknown, but they are there.

fancy throwing us some justification for that statement?

There isn't one.

He is just clinging onto his hard Brexit right wing ideals in the hope the conservatives deliver them. Nobody of rational mind would think the Tories are currently a good choice, the country is in a wreck directly due to their poor leadership and May's incompetence.

John Bercow stirs the pot by allowing commons votes on Abortion rights for NI women in the UK, Proposals to remain in the single market and custom union and Labours alternative queens speech. This could get very interesting.

Commentary seems to be suggesting May will back down on the Abortion rights amendment because she hasn't got the numbers to vote it down and wont risk an amendment being passed.

JC is in a difficult position also because of the single market / custom union vote.

What a mischievous chap Mr. Bercow is lol

Looks like the Court of Appeal as decided its up to Stormont to sort it out. So will the Common's vote have any baring on the matter?

Stormont is not currently in siting. They have until 4pm today I think to sort themselves out at which point NI rule could potentially revert back to westminster which would then make this vote relevant I guess ?

If we go back to direct rule of NI it is going to end up being a pro unionist party having control of the entire country. Violating the power sharing principals of GF and potentially some very bad ramifications.

The Tories have got real problems on their hands. I can no longer support them.

It's going to be ******* hilarious if the Tories have to preside over Northern Ireland, having to decide whether gay marriage is a sin in one place but entirely fine everywhere else.

What a farce.
