What happens to MPs like Amber Rudd say for example she loses her seat does that mean she also loses her job as Home Secretary?

Yes. She would go.

Blair appointed a non-MP to a senior position in the party once (Alasdair Campbell as chief Press Secretary) but it's very unusual to appoint non-MPs to positions of power. It certainly wouldn't be politically acceptable to do it for something like Home Secretary. These are positions that MPs climb and compete and battle each other for their whole careers. It has to be an MP in cabinet positions. So if Amber Rudd loses her seat, she's out and looking for a job in the real world!

Absolutely laughable from the Scots if Cons gain the most seats there
It's weird, because Scotland has never been Tory as long as I've been alive.

Tory voters used to complain about Scotland always voting Labour; some were hoping that the Scots took independence for that very reason!

Why the **** would anyone in Scotland vote Tory!

From speaking to Scottish mates who voted to stay in the union, they have been fed the line that labour will give the SNP another referendum. Conservative was their only real option.

Fancy a bet? I'll pony up £10 to say that if Labour form a government, she wont be home secretary.

Loser pays to a charity of the winners choosing.

If is is a Labour minority government (as Corbyn has stated he's plan to form) then why not... :)

(In fact I'll go with a coalition too - unless she is replaced by a non-Labour MP in order to form that coalition)

I cannot wait to see Independence finally nailed shut. I'd laugh my ass off if Scotland saves the Tories and sends the blinding light into Nicola Sturgeon. It is over. Never having to hear her Independence crap again.

-9 for TM isn't a terrible result.

Can always spin it as a mandate for Brexit negotiations.

How so? It's not a terrible result for the Conservatives, but it seems to me it's a terrible result for May herself because she has responsibility for having called the election that lost them. Or am I misreading you?

I'd be glad to see the back of her too tbh, irritating moron creating all this tension.

It's a deal (or a bet rather) :-)

given that the majority voted against independence, Sturgeon has been using Brexit as an excuse for another referendum so soon and the Tories actually have quite a popular figure up there - Lesbian kick boxer formerly in the army reserves... I'm not really too surprised they're getting some votes
