That's been happening ever since they signed up to the wonderful Good Friday Agreement - look at what's happened in NI politics - used to be the dominated by centrist parties (UUP, SDLP) now dominated by Sinn Fein IRA and the DUP. At least the PUP (who do have links to paramilitary organisations unlike the DUP) haven't gained much support.

I think the Cons would do well to ditch May and call another election. Sort of saying to the electorate "OK, so you don't like May, how about this guy?".
If they put Ken Clarke in charge, now that's a PM I could get behind.

Labour still got beat and are more in line with the numbers Gordon Brown posted. I wouldn't say Brown 'cemented his position in the party' after that. The expectations were so low for Labour that this looks like a win, but it isn't.

Labour want to remain in the single market which means accepting freedom of movement. That is in stark contrast to the majority that voted brexit.

I said that a while back in casual conversation - he's a toff but I had the impression that he's forthright so people generally quite like him.

Seems I was wrong if reaction to that idea amongst friends and colleagues is anything to go by!

I don't love the Tories at all, in fact I don't lean towards any particular party. I do hate the SNP and all that they stand for so my vote yesterday was a tactical vote with the only party that could go against them in Scotland. Not sure that I would have voted at all if Labour was that alternative party because I don't want Corbyn anywhere near a seat of power. As for the UK result I just think the Tories would have got us a better deal in the Brexit negotiations which is why I asked if now was a good time to put it to the people one last time.
