eXtreme Air Cooling - Build Log + Overclocking

Now I have always been one to champion high end air cooling I don’t know what it is about it, certainly and especially in regards to my up coming build it’s not any cheaper than water cooling but just something about being able to turn your PC in to a jet fighter that really is appealing or as my girlfriend would say “turn those bloody fans down!”

WHAT!? I can't hear you over the Deltas dear

I'm leaving you

Still can't hear you, you'll have to SHOUT!!

The g/f is covered shes getting a new kitten, I get to play with new fans...

and to be honest shes not so bad about it, even interested in some of it as long as it isnt to loud or making to much mess!

Ooooooo - with that much airflow you could get away with a couple of TECs bolted on there - go on - just a little 320W job - you know it makes sense! :p

Well, you could beat watercooling with this, but then I run my watercooling with no fans. I like the quietness... unlike some. :p ;)

Those things will be very loud, I got some 40W 220mm 24v fans from e-bay a while ago, and they are like an extraction fan in a kitchen at 24v, and still damn loud at 12v. Imagine a vacuum cleaner running 24/7!

out of curiosity, a quick google on vacuum cleaner decibels. turns out they typically run between 50 and 85 - so pretty good analogy. :(

but look at the cfm :D

assumming the PWM controllers work then I really dont see that it will be loud at all day-to-day.. no different to the current system which althought not "silent" certainly you would have to have pretty sensitive hearing for it to bother you...
