eXtreme Air Cooling - Build Log + Overclocking

3.78ghz... again fans on 8v.. slight vcore nudge... am really pleased with how even the load temps are :D

I like the new sig! Anyways how far do you wreckon you'll get (stupid question I know :p)

Also people all have their "own" temp limits for running CPUs at, but high hot would you feel comfortable running it at?

I believe my PSU just screamed "medic!"

12 mins in to my 2nd 3.950ghz run testing some settings and she went  got a backup in and everything seems stable at stock.. so least it didnt take any componats.. am going to go have a beer now

had a corsair 520w, about 14 months old... now sorting email to corsair... not sure whats gone but got a burning plastic smell comming from it so cant be good

Aw.. what make was it, and how long before any more clocking updates? :D

well not doing anything on the backup is some unbranded 400w so will have to wait till I am paid to get a new one... building a file server at the moment so guess i'll put the RMA'd one in that and get the new one early for this rig

well other than the overclock it really wasnt having to cope with much... 8800GTS, 1HDD, 1 Optical Drive and a couple of fans of the motherboard... really messed up my weekend plans! was going to pull an all nighter sat/sun for some low ambient night runs in the conservatory

well up and running... testing is a bit slow as well getting used to the new board and well realise I can run at much lower board voltages so working my way up through the mhz... being using Intel Burn Test to test stability quickly and seems to do a good job... (See post here)

Just started a prime at 3.6ghz am only running 4hour runs (or well 1 cycle) until we start to get to the big clocks...

going to be a bit slow but the data I gather about board settings and that will payoff in the end!

very impressed with the board.. for my current 3.6ghz run.. 1.35v BIOS vcore, comes out at 1.344v Load vcore.. much better than my old P5K-E

ok well prime run done @ 3.6ghz 1 full cycle so just over 3 1/2 hours... fans running at 16v and a good 10-12c difference over them running @ 8v :)

Settings for the run:
Ambient: 23c (at time of screen shot)
FSB:400
Multi: 9
CPU vcore: 1.35 BIOS / 1.344 Load
NB: 1.3v
VTT: 1.32v
RAM: 2*1gb running @ 5-5-5-18 @ 2.3v

all in all pretty pleased... especilly with the temps given I have more leg room and only getting a delta (i guess thats the technical term?!) of +17c ish

Looking good so far! Cant wait to see how far you can get this...

As for the vcore, the dlx 'AUTO' settings for loadline calibration is on i think. Certainly if i disable mine the vcore plumets under load (although actually with it set to auto, i get exactly the same voltages as you! They must be pretty consistent!).
