eXtreme Air Cooling - Build Log + Overclocking

ok up'd the clock to something reasonable 3.745ghz (1.45v load vcore) and let the fans go to see what sort of temps I got.. again just a quick blast on prime (I know these settings are 8hours+ primestable same settings I used for the entry on the quadcore database).. thought it would also provide a good comparision between new and old..

So old setup at 21c ambient was achieving temps of: 63/63/57/57 (Pre Ducting)

current setup at 23c ambient is getting: 52/52/50/50... also this is on a new AS5 mounting last night so probably a good few degree's to come off those once its bedded in a bit :)

Am certain these temps will hold I know I am moving enough air in the case not to case overheating due to increase in ambient temps... Also got to sort the RPM reading in speedfan.. fiddle with the divisors should sort that

ok been running some prime with same settings as my 3.906ghz run in the database.. 30 mins in temps are @ 52/52/49/49 @ 24c ambient vs 68/68/63/63 @ 23c ambient for the old setup... around 14 - 16c difference extra omph is starting to show its worth at high levels of heat output

speed fan seems to have issue once the big boys push thro the 5K RPM barrier and shows the RPM at past 500K lol... :) got to go out this evening but am going to prime over night @ 4.023ghz and then see where we can get tomorrow.. have to sort the issues I had previously with the motherboard giving out.. but if that can be got past and the CPU is good for it... Mr w3bbo could be in trouble :)

wont be any fans on the actual heatsink they will be at either end of the ducting.. so you have to keep in mind each fan is 5cm deep (when evaluating the room there!), ducting will run from top to bottom (so the heatsink will be in a different orientation), the old 80mm stuff had plenty of room (have had a look to see if i have a picture but I only have pictures of it in parts).. once the 120mm stuff arrives ill get some pictures up :)

First video is one fan setup on one of the 24v PWM controllers... have the multi-meter in the for ground so you can see the voltage going through the fans, hereSecond video I have two fans running off the same controller.. had to tape them down :) can be seen here
Very cool dude. When can we expect a test-flight across the channel?
Will it be safe to fire them up on full? Might fly off and chop your head off or something.
Pneumonic - Air Cooling Legend 2008

without a doubt I can say that is the funniest thing I have ever seen someone do with computer hardware! :D:D

This is a great thread, reminds of the good old days in the case modding forum where people were doing crazy stuff (not saying this is crazy btw *cough*) It all seems to be worth it though with 4 gig on air prime stable and I agree those cases look nice in blue too - nice job.
