Eyefinity gets owned by NVIDIA Surround

I thought this was meant to be multi screen benches.

[H] already did that, 480 SLI was found to be faster. At which point people started to cry and pull out the price/performance shtick which they always do when the more expensive product is found to be faster. Personally I find this to be utterly tiresome and is why I would like to try and get together a bunch of tests at set resolutions people can agree on, so we can all test our hardware and compare it to systems out there (built in benchmarks and FRAPS min/max/avg would be good). It is something that everyone can get involved in, even those AMD shareholders who have a vested interest in talking the company up. ;)

Best idea yet, lets just show benchies of any DX11 card at a set resolution, would be interesting reading for those with cards and those trying to pick one. It seems to me its the ATI mob that are against this ?

Is there any chance of getting marc2003's Crysis and Crysis Warhead benchmarks back? Everyone pretty much agreed they were a fantastic fair measure of system performance.

i picked up 3 monitors and my 5850 for ~£600, and i'm more than happy with the performance.

Not everyone who wants to game/use 3 monitors can afford the best, ati is still the value for money alternative :)

but in the context of the article yes they do show nvidia to be better.

I've noticed as a GTX 480 owner, the only people who complain about the noise.heat and power usage of the 4xx series, are those with ATI cards!! very strange!! :D

i'm happy with mine and have no problems with it, i've never been into SLI, but after seeing this review, i might add another one, once i've saved up :)

^ again, you can't compare 2 fail cards to 3x slightly worse performance wise but not so much of a fail cards

if your brother waited a bit he would have gotten 470 tri-sli and your statement would be incorrect that it's slower and costs more

well i agree we need to have a few games at a set resolution, and simply benchmark between us, as different setups produce different fps, i know that firsthand becasue i have avp, and before i decided to get a second gtx480 i looked at benchmarks to gauge what fps i could get, most benchmarks say around 70 fps at 2560x1600, im getting around the 100fps mark with 2 cards at that res with 16aa,

Just had time at lunch to do a very quick single run of concrete jungle from JC2: http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~layte/pics/conc-jung.png I'd be interested to see what tri-fire setups get with the same settings.

I'll do my best to get more results from more games and make a thread tonight.

I got this with my 480's with all the nvidia eye candy turned on and 32xAA on the desert/town benchmark. (My cards are not fully overclocked (only on 825mhz) as one card is still on air as I am waiting on my block from EK)

One of the main reasons I went with nvidia this time around was the higher levels of AA. I am a total AA whore and with 480's in sli I can select 64xAA and I can also use TRSAA which isnt found on ATI offerings. TRSAA is great on games like Crysis and makes the vegetation look jaggie free. AA hardly hits the Fermi cards at all and I could play allot of games with 32xAA with just one 480. The difference in frame rates on the 480 from 8xAA to 32xAA is surprisingly tiny. Physx is also a bonus but not essential but if I am going to be buying two top end cards I want all the bells and whistles. 3D was also a massive surprise and although I only have the cheapo coloured glasses gaming in 3D blew me away and IMO is the future of gaming. I haven't tried multi display gaming as I game on a 70" display in my lounge.

Lastly I have noticed gaming is smoother with nvidia compared to my multi gpu ati setup.

Overall I am really pleased with the 480 so far its been a great card and one that eats AA for breakfast which was my main reason for buying it. :)

At the end of the day either ATI or Nvidia multi gpu setups will give the user a great gaming environment and last for a good few years, you just have to see what suits your needs and pocket.

They do an 8xAA bench as well, and let's be honest 8xAA is more than enough.

I dont agree. I can tell the difference between 8xAA and 16xAA and 32xAA. Maybe its because I am playing on a large display.

Most sites still do the majority of their benchmarks at 4xAA which IMO is crap for a top end gpu. Some sites dont even have AF turned on in their benchmarks, which again is rubbish.
