F@H Cruncher Slug Out - Mk. II ** In Progress **

Uh oh. I set it up for the new name for the slug-out last night. I didn't turn it on or anything like that. However, it appears I screwed up. :o

I don't know how it happened but I got both an EUE and a false start. I'll have to see just what happened when I get home from work.

I suppose I'll have to be disqualified for starting too early. :(

AFAIK you start from the first WU downloaded after the start time :)

Got the X2 3800 clocked up to 2.9  Currently running 32Mb Superpi, if she manages that, I'll try her with dual primes until just before 20.00 and if she's fine with that - we're off :D (If not, I'll take her back down to 2.75 - I know she's stable at that).

I'm taking a bit of a risk clocking her so high as I'm going up to Orkney tomorrow and then on to Shetland for the whole of next week so hopefully she'll remain stable - but hell, life on the edge for Bigstan :p

I've got the side of the case open and the deskfan pointing directly at the mobo - has knocked 5 degrees off my idle temps

That'll work if Rich is able. Be sure to declare when you return your current WU though as that won't count.

Or you could just create yet another account. What's another new user among friends? :)

I'll be taking the stats at 17:30 uk time tonight for the main news and then again at 19:30 or thereabouts to make sure everyone is starting from the same point ready for the h'official start of the competition at 20:00 (1900 GMT/Zulu)

So if everyone could please try not to start before 8pm - anyone starting beforehand will be rolleyed to death

Billy -  :p let us know what you think happened when you can get to it to have a look - to get 18 points from an EUE on a 146 point unit it would have to have spent a fair amount of time on it before failing

If people are part-way through WUs on the account they want to use for the competition for whatever reason then get in contact and we can agree on a fair starting credit - I would rather that everyone had started from 0 on totally new accounts but in the interest of making it a bit more accessible I'm willing to do an extra bit of work if it's required :)

I'll be starting from zero. Not even going to start the setup before 19:15

You could take the news at the same time as the competition. Since you know we're all going to be single crunchers, we can have a race with the other singles too. :D

actually yes I'll leave the news stats till then too - a couple more hours shouldn't affect anything too much news-wise and that'll also see me with plenty of spare time to get back from Bristol next Thursday

I will be posting the competition stats seperate from the main news though as it's already a bit of a monster post. I may even look at keeping a daily update going for the competition - will see how it looks :)

So from what I can gather the current line-up looks like this:
  • CSO2_B0rked - Amp34
  • CSO2_B0rked_Again – Amp34
  • CSO2_Cereal-Cruncher – Whitestar
  • CSO2_Clever_Nickname – BillytheImpaler
  • CSO2_duncandonuts- Dunc
  • CSO2_Magic_Smoke – Joe42*
  • CSO2_Mini_Mayhem – Berserker
  • CSO2_newsmeister - Rich99million
  • CSO2_PotNoodle – Mattus*
  • CSO2_Welshwhiskysucks – Bigstan
  • Berserker’s yet-unnamed Xeon rig - Berserker

*Misters Mattus and Joe42 should note that it’s CSO2 not CS02 as you’ve posted. Uniformity and all… :p

Has anyone a need to add or subtract from this list?

List looks good. Perhaps you could add machine specs on there too. See what were up against ;)

I'm currently in the process of making up a spreadsheet just now.
Can people please post their machine specs so they can be added? :)

So far I'm looking for the following information:

CPU Type, CPU Speed, L2 Cache, RAM Qty & Type, RAM Speed, RAM Timings, Motherboard, Approximate cost of the "greasy bits" as BTI calls them.

If anyone can think of any other information which would be useful, then please let me know and I'll add it :)
