F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

Using the cockpits to gauge size again...

Wheelbase looks similar, Ferrari longer nose and shorter engine cover. Rear wing on the Toymota much further back.

So rubbish it's comical.
Hilariously cheesy.

I look forward to seeing more cars in comparison :)

The front wing on the Toyota doesn't seem to be as wide as the Ferrari, maybe playing it safe in that its possibly less likely to be knocked off? Ofcourse could just be the perspective though.

Seen as Ferraris 'wing mirror supports' and Toyotas winglets are in practically the exact same space, there must be something specific within the rules that they are tweaking.

Altho I did read that the rule simply read "no aerodynamic appendages between the front and rear axels", so not sure what these are.

Well, technically they would argue they are just wing supports. They just happen to be aerodynamic as well :p

Toyota themselves - they're not running it for the first few races as they think it will give them an advantage.

This should be very interesting. I say this because we normally see Trulli qualifying brilliantly and then (inexplicably) turning into a mobile roadblock once the race begins. This time he wont be able to do this, as on the straight, the faster cars behind will be able to hit their KERS BOOST button and overtake him.

I shall keep my eye out on Trulli in the first few races and see whether or not he is able to hold other faster cars behind him, without the KERS unit.

Talking of KERS BOOST BUTTON JUST KICKED IN, YO!, does anyone know if there will be any form of indication for TV viewers of who is on boost? With A1GP when the boost option is quite a big part, the comentators and viewers get an indication of who us using boost and how many they have left.

With F1 its limited to once per lap, but it would be nice to have something come up on screen to see if someone is using boost. Dont fancy having to guess whos using it where.

I hope so!

Do you have a source for this?

im not so sure why you think KERS is going to be a magical boost (pardon the pun) to there laptimes.

IF the better setup non-KERS cars have better corner speed they will be far enough up the road to make the boost worthless to the heavy trucks with KERS.

There will be a point when KERS becomes the best option. But i don't believe its going to be in the first few races. Plus its going to be suited to some tracks more than others.

Of course its all speculation at the moment... :)
