** F1 2011 - Official Thread **

Wahahahaha being Team Virgin, getting to Pos 14 and blocking Di Resta when he tries to overtake, It's Awesome!!!!!

F1 2010 I used to get pole nearly always, the AI was crap imo, but now the genuinely try and overtake you!

Im doing coop championship with a mate, I cant help but feel a bit dissapointed regarding the ai.

So many times an ai car would be right up your trumpet (And obviously faster) only to not overtake on a straight or not overtake in a corner.

During a race I was last, and about to get lapped at Melbourne on the home straight. I stayed on the racing line as Webber etc came steaming up my arse only to not overtake me on the straight. I went round a few corners off the racing line to let them through and they just sat behind me. Then 2 laps later actually decided to overtake. The problem is though, is they stay right up your arse all the way round the track and then overtake at a stupid place.

During Qualifying, I was putting in a couple of laps at Malaysia. I was going at quite a pace. A car in front of me started slowing to let me past. As I was coming to overtake him at 140mph+, as I was pulling out to overtake he decided to pull out in front of me causing massive damage. Bearing in mind he was a good 50+ mph slower.

The ai is a level down from legendary, I like the game, but it feels a bit wierd. I cant help that feel this game is really intended with online racers or time trials.

Seems to be a bit of a mixed bag of reviews both on here and on the review website, however definitely appear to be more positives than negatives.

Am popping into town shortly so may well be returning home with the PS3 version :), certainly would be interested in the league after a bit of practice.

I cannot confirm this as I only own a 360. A lot of reports of choppy framerates and poorer graphics on the PS3 version. Of course how true this is im not sure.

I'm playing the PS3 version and haven't noticed any choppy framerates but that might be because I'm more worried about not crashing ;)

I got the Ps3 version last night.. Couldn't help myself, its what F1 2010 should have been, its a lot harder, the IA seems better.

Graphics are nice, but again. Floating cars it seems in replays. There is some screen tearing, but its not all that bad.

I'll keep playing but overall so far its MUCH better then F1 2010. Least the pit stops work this time, I had a 20% race at monza and pitted at my scheduled pit stop and was in and out quickly no hassle.

Controls are good this time as well. A lot of tweaking can be made. overall so far its a solid 8 game. But this could change the more I play it.

Split screen is also a welcome change, it was a lot more fun doing a 20% race with a friend on the same console. It works well, and a lot of fun.

I was tempted to pick this up today but something has put me off , the difficulty settings?

ive read a few comments about it being way to hard or way to easy, how is everyone finding the balance of the different difficulty settings?

I would like it to be realistic when driving for a lower team like Virgin so dont want to be winning races easily that should be near on impossible with the lower teams.

cheers

I'm really pleased with how driveable and fun this is with the pad, all aids off and I'm doing comfortable quickish laps around silverstone, it really feels absolutely spot on - I can only imagine how good it is with a wheel. The music sucks though...

Might trade in my copy of f1 2010 on ps3 and get this, how much credit are the high street stores offering for it?

The well known chains may have their usual trade in the old version for £20 deal.

I really need to get this game, just don't have any games that i want to get rid of and don't want to spend £40 on it.

Really tempted to pick this up, I'm just so concerned the PS3 version has poor frame rate (F1 2010 had noticable tearing in pits etc) and game is buggy.

Frame rate seems fine on the PS3, I do get the odd stutter when leaving the pits though or if I insta load a flying lap but during racing - never a problem with the FPS.

Why did you pull out to overtake? I thought the AI has to move out - away from the racing line.

That way it doesn't impede you're flying lap.

The only initial disappointment with this game seems to be the graphics compared to the PC version, but beside that it seems like a great game so far.

Using the following settings on my Fanatec GT2 on PS3

Sen 220
FFB 80
Sho 20
Dri 4
Abs 70
lin, dea, spr 0

In game all defaults

Is anyone playing this using a fanatec wheel setup?

Wondered if they wanted to share any wheel settings..

On a 911 GT2

In game : Advanced wheel settings :

Everything 0% apart from Steering saturation which is 5%

In game : Force Feedback options :

Feedback : On
Env Effect : 40
Feedback Str : 70%
Wheel Weight : 50

On Wheel Settings :

Sen - OFF
FF - 70
SHO - 0
DRI - 3
ABS 75-80
LIN - 0
DEA - 0
SPR - 1
DPR - minus 3

Works for me

Really enjoying this so far, I had to turn the difficulty down to Intermediate though as the AI were ridiculously fast, I couldn't even keep up with Trulli and I don't think I could have gone any faster! I'd like to blame the PS3 pad, but I know deep down that I'm just a rubbish driver. I'm thinking of sticking the difficulty back up a notch though, so far I've came 17th in Australia then I put the difficulty down one level and came 3rd at Malaysia... So in the interest of fairness and realism I think I'll stick it back up seeing as 17th and up is about where I should be in the car that I'm driving. :)

Does anyone know if they've bothered to make the lap times real this year? I remember last year you could follow a car around the track and he'd be posting times that didn't correspond with his actual performance.

Hi all,

I struggling with this game big time. Can anyone give me some advise? Here is what I'm doing so far btw.

Accelerate in the straights > whack the breaks on very hard as I approach the corner > steer with no gas around the corner> back on the gas as I exit the corner ?

I'm also finding it quite hard with the controller. Has anyone used BOTH the controller and the wheel? Much difference?

I started with force india and could only qualify 23/24 :(

There's a different technique for each corner so it's hard to really give you general advice. Just make sure you're accelerating and braking smoothly, try and hit the apexes and just try being consistent. What part are you struggling with in particular? If you're having problems cornering it might be worth tinkering with the setup until you find something you like the feel of. You probably won't be competing for the top positions in the Force India so try not to worry too much on your final position as long as you're hitting the targets set by your team.
