** F1 2011 - Official Thread **

Really low speed corners I always seem to take too fast.

The really fast parts of the lap here you are momentarily meant to come off the gas, I always get overtaken on.

I find singapore and monaco so hard with a pad too :\

Are you playing on the 360 or PS3? I'm on PS3 and the default accelerator and brake buttons are horrible, I hate using R2 and L2 because they feel really spongy, I was struggling in the bends until I changed my setup to X and Square, my times improved quite a bit after doing that.

I've only had a quick play so far (360, MS Wheel) and it does feel much tougher. It seems you have to be really smooth and careful with corners, otherwise you can overdo it and unweight the car making it unstable or causing a spin.

Any recommendations for wheel settings? I seem to remember tweaking them on the last game.

I am playing on PC, with AI at Pro. Realistic flags, tyre and fuel simulation and braking assist/racing line off and i am finding almost too easy!

First 5 races i was awful for unknown reasons but now in my Force India i have qualified 1st in two races and won both on 50% eg 29 laps.

I am using Xbox Controller btw.

I am going to try the next races on Legendary.

This is the Gameracer seat and the Fanatec 911 GT2 wheel.

Just about to start an online coop session last night.

It feels amazing to be honest. I have wanted one for years and years when I used to race on the PC. Yes they are expensive but it more than makes up for it.

The wheel is incredible. I had an old Logitech Momo (Black), at the time i thought it was good but the Fanatec wheel is a whole new level. Very responsive and the feedback is awesome. Whether its subtle bumps to full on gravel traps or over steer & under steer. The pedals are the standard version, there are better pedals available from Fantec, but not at a price i wanted to pay.

The Seat etc just give the whole package more immersion. Plenty of scope for adjusting for people of all shapes and sizes. Its very well make and the whole thing weighs in around 20kg. It took me around 2-3 hours to get my ideal driving position, now i have it its all locked in place. I absolutely love it.

If people are considering the wheel - dont. Just go and order it now. Do make sure you have a stable platform to clamp the wheel too.

As for the seat, I would say go for it. It does kind of pack away in a portable size, but probably not enough to leave it in your living room etc. Well worth the price but it is expensive.

The whole lot just makes F1 2011 (and any driving game utterly brilliant. Im so glad i bought them, I cant imagine going back to a pad anymore.

What times are people getting on Monaco?

I am around 1.17/18 but the likes of Perez, Hamilton and Vetel etc are getting 1.15. I really cannot see anywhere i can improve either :(

I'm in the force india car, I was managing 1.14s by the end. I seem to be able to go well at circuits I'm familiar with, catalunya, and monaco, I came second at, canada I won on Professional difficulty, at this point I was considering turning up the difficulty. But then, I'm so off the pace on circuits like valencia and silverstone. I just can't keep up.

This is sooo damn good to drive, no more automatic excursions or spins every time you enter a bend slightly too fast, you can really feel the car and those little slides and squirms under the power, lap after lap you can build up the speed and push a little more. Fan-bloody-tastic.

Loving this.

So am i.

I just cant qualify quick on Monaco. I gave up and took 18th but finished 3rd  My "race" pace is incredible compared to qualifying.

must get this , i feel i did not give f1 2010 a good go last year , i traded it in very quickly and i normally love the f1 series!

Is this a good improvement over f1 2010?

Monaco is one of the toughest circuits to be fast at, you have NO room for error and the only way to get a good time is a decent setup - a high downforce one at that and a LOT of practice and I mean a LOT.

I did a league race on F1 2010 months ago at Monaco and the only way to get quicker was a decent setup and I put in something like 150 laps during the 3 practice sessions to just find where I could go a bit faster, tighter, little later on the brakes then put it all together. The same applies to all circuits really but there are just those that are tougher than others.

Well like i say i went from 17th to 3rd. So my race pace is great but i just dont qualify strong.

Was surprised today to find that sister's boyfriend had bought me this for my birthday, although had to wait for it to arrive on Friday and I just got back from Brighton. Ultimate win! :D

Enjoing it so far but finding it very hard. Seem to have encountered a bug where after i pit the view reverts back to cockpit and i have to manually change it - i use the t cam usually. nothing major but a bit annoying.

Had an engine blowout last night...at least that's what i think it was! Big bang, lots of vibration and came to a halt - was actually pretty cool.

Managed a 1.15 on Monaco with Virgin.

Ive won two races somehow so far! How I managed it I dont know? Really enjoying the game :)

Absoloutely loving this! The handling is so much improved.

Is anyone finding the breaking line for Corners wrong? I get green for a corner, so I take it quickly but find the car loses control and spins. IF I'm entering it to fast surely it should be yellow/red?

What settings are people using on the Xbox 360 Steering wheel?

YES!

This was actually one of the first things I notice compared to the previous game. In 2010 I always used it and found that once you go to know the track, you could brake a little later than the line was showing.

I've found in the new game that on some corners, it tells me my speed is fine, but it's clearly too much.

Just had another little go Practising the first circuit. I can put 1, maybe 2 laps together that are quick, then I'll mess one corner up and lose the front wing! It's hard to predict how much front end grip you've got.

What view is everyone using?

One little thing, commenting on my speed/time on my out lap and asking me to go faster? I'm using my first lap to get temp into the tyres and short shifting. Does this make a difference?
