** F1 2011 - Official Thread **

Just got black flagged at Istanbul for corner cutting, but barely cut any corners - only clipping the apex! Sooo not fair :(

Thing I dislike about the game in this respect is that if you pause the game you can simply press "restart".

Same goes for Quali and FR sessions after getting a penalty.
 
Played the monaco track last night.... god do I suck at it!!

Think I hit the side about 90 times in total (P, Q and Race) and spun about 10 times.... :(

Not one of my favs :(

Same... Simply can't get around Monaco without hitting the barriers a good few times... I end up having to have at least two new wings fitted during a 20% race. Racing Monaco with a pad without TCS or any aids on is a challenge, so I tend to put some aids on for when I do race Monaco...

Getting fed up with unfair penalties in this game.. why is it when I go to overtake a back marker they nip around and zig zag like they're having a fit then you end up crashing into them and being given a drive through for causing a crash? The AI has no idea what to do at times, they stick to the racing line then just dart about for no reason when you get close to them and you just don’t know where or which way to go in order to get past cleanly.. Its sooooo annoying.!!

The AI in this game really does suck. They take no notice of blue flags, they take no notice of your speed when in qualifying or practice and trundle around on the racing line meaning you come up behind them at such a disproportional speed you have to literally swerve to avoid crashing into the back, and this can cause problems as you swerve so quickly at times you lose grip and subsequently spin off, over the grass or crash into them… sometimes this can result in a penalty for causing a crash, cutting a corner or getting a grid drop or 20 + seconds added… Its completely ridiculous. Who play tests for codemasters? These glaring errors cannot be missed..

They must just ignore playtesters. Steven Hood has no idea how to program a decent F1 game, he needs schooling my Geoff Crammond.

Game has some nice features etc… but it just doesn’t feel right. I mean, why after racing 50% and you come third or higher you get stupid brokeback mountain man loving instead of podium celebrations? And why can we still not drive the car out the pits ourselves before the race? Warm up lap still missing, and I’m sure there is lots more that’s not right with this game..

Oh and final rant.. PS3 version graphics are clearly the worse. On a positive, the split screen grand prix mode is a whole lot of fun though..

Not tried any other wheels but been quite happy with my Microsoft one. I've looked into it, and the next best thing you can get is a Fanatec, but that is double the price....

I'd also recommend the 'Wheel stand Pro' for it. Granted it's not cheap but it transforms the experience. http://www.wheelstandpro.com/
 
Got so annoyed last night, keeps crashing on the "Waiting for Players" at pre-race. Everyone just loses connection. Couldn't get a game. So annoying. :(
 
What i don't understand is why Microsoft stopped making and selling them. There is still clearly a very large market for them. I remember when Forza 2 was out and i nearly bought one then. I should have done... :/
 
Thrustmaster are making a wheel based around the 458 Italia and should be coming out soon. I would hazard a guess that it would be around £80-90 ish. I think its 360 and PC compatible too.
 
Fanatec is about the only option then if you want it for Xbox as well as PC and PS3. Thats why I bought mine and it is bloody brilliant...
 
picked this up today for £34 and all i can say is i have much respect for all f1 drivers. even the virgins.

struggling to get a flying lap done so far.

just finished my first practice with lotus.


anyone give any hints on setup?
