So, Kubica out for at least much of the season :( - a real shame, he's a great talent. I really hope he can return to the sport. Who's going to replace him? There's a rumour that Bruno Senna might get the seat, but surely Renault won't partner a second string driver like Petrov with a chump like Senna will they? That'd doom any chance of getting the most out of their car.

Might we see them stealing a Trulli or Glock from one of the lower teams? Or the return of the likes of Kimi (unlikely, given their last attempt to bring him in)? Thoughts?

Yep, Brazil '07. After getting mugged at the start by some superb Ferrari choreography, and trying a move on Alonso that he didn't need to make and going skating off, he found himself down the order a bit. Things really turned to worms after that on about lap 9 when he pressed something that pretty much shut the car down for a few corners. By the time he got going again, he was down in 18th.

And yet the ITV F1 commentary still insisted that the title was his to lose for most of the race....
it was something to do with the gearbox, maybe a diagnostic or something but the team had remotely reset it from the pits

Maybe Tony Fernandes will let Chandhok or Kovalainen drive for Renault if they pay him?

Bug hang on, are the 2 teams in question not about to rip into eachother in the law courts? If this is the case, I highly doubt that one team will do any favours for the other.

I think Renault's best bet would be to see if Kimi is interested. The Renault looks to be a decent car this year and it deserves a decent driver.

I'm just clutching at straws in the hope of convincing myself that Heidfeld won't come back.

Useless waste of a dwiver.

What have you got against Heidfeld? He's not an absolute top tier talent, but he's got a pretty reasonable record. Don't forget he beat Kubica in the same car in 2 out of 3 of the full seasons they raced together for Sauber

I'd rate him in a similar vein to Trulli. The kind of driver that had an initial buzz around them when they began driving in F1, never really lived up to that buzz and then promptly spent the next 10 years trundling around doing nothing spectacular or inspiring in cars which deserved to be in more capable hands.

Bernie Ecclestone has professed such great admiration for Sebastian Vettel that he wouldn't mind him as a future son-in-law. This has come as a great surprise to Tamara and Petra Ecclestone. "We're not big fans of the film Shrek" said Tamara.

Meeow! :)

Maybe the Ecclestone ladies DO have a sense of humour (not sueing)

If anything maybe Vettel would sue (defamation) but he probably sees the funny side too
