F1 2012 Car launch dates

I remember when the narrow wings were introduced a couple of years back. People were saying exactly the same things then, as they are now. However, 2-3 races in, pretty much everybody got used to the (strange) narrow wings.

I think that people will get used to these new noses, just as they got used to the narrow wings.

Anyway, with tomorrow's RBR unveiling, we will probably be witnessing the fastest F1 car in 2012. And Tuesday should be an eye opener.

They've still got their miniscule gearbox. I think this year it'll really pay off for them with the lack of EBD, clean air to the back of the car will be more important.

Obviously they're not going to be front runners, but hopefully they'll be back in with STR/Sauber/FI.

The W03 will break cover at 08:20 on Tuesday, February 21 before hitting the track at 09:00 at the start of the four day test at Barcelona.

Michael Schumacher will drive the car on Tuesday and Thursday while team-mate Nico Rosberg will drive on Wednesday and Friday.

sportsbild have a bunch of qoutes

Newey said their car behaves as predicted, the only team Red Bull now still fears is Mercedes.

Mateschitz about Ferrari: "We already know that Ferrari had a few problems" while he was smiling.

The magazine says they know Hamilton told Kovalainen that McLaren is also disappointedwith their new car.

Horner about Mercedes: "Mercedes must be very sure about what they´re doing if they sacrifice 1/3 of pre season testing"

Marko: "It seems Mercedes have something special at the front of the car"

Newey: "We know that the new Mercedes was ready long ago. I think they want to hide something. It must be a part which is quite fast to copy as they wouldn´t make such an effort to hide it"

Mateschitz: "Mercedes has huge pressure on them, the team must risk something"

Mercedes reserved the Catalunya Circuit on 19th February for a filming day. Insider say the car will look very different to all other cars.

MS: "We wanted to have as much time as possible for the basic stuff and if you get those wrong, you´re unable to change it"

Obviously everything must be taken with a pinch of salt, but they are on to something. Mercedes aren't missing the first test because their car isn't ready...

I wonder if they have developed the passive front wing f duct concept they were looking at last year?

I hope its not like the McLaren launch where we all get geared up for something exciting, and then get let down.

its bound to be a letdown :D

they will probably get all wrong again and wont be allowed to change it.

2010 was weight balance all wrong i believe and the car was to short ? (they modded the front suspension to try and get the wheel base slightly longer)
2011 wheel base was to short and double decked radiators ruined the centre of gravity
2012 they will prob go back to a short wheelbase and everyone else goes long :D

So, in a nutshell, RBR are quietly confident that they once again, have the best car on the grid.

i guess so unless mercedes manage something special which i doubt considering the last 2 seasons they had issues with the car that werent allowed to be fixed because of the homologated chasis rubbish rule
