F1 2012 Car launch dates

If you want to win titles and have the best car, you must be prepared to get involved in legal battles. McLaren seem to be on the right track with their aggressive thinking. Ferrari are also doing the same this year, with their ride height gizmo already banned. This is good.

IMO, to beat Vettel now, the rival teams may need to produce a better car than RBR. The only driver I can see outscoring Vettel, in a similarly paced car, over a full season is Alonso...and even that's marginal.

IF Vettel improves again (just as he did last year) and takes another step forward, I can't even see Alonso being able to peg him back.

Hamilton's best chance of winning the title is to hope that McLaren produce a better car than RBR OR he moves to RBR and unsettles Vettel (ie. uses off-track tactics as he did in 2007 with Alonso). Other than that, its tough to see past Vettel's skill and ability. Especially when a high ranking employee of McLaren is openly admitting that although his team had the fastest car at the end of 2011, his drivers were not fast enough to beat Vettel (in a slower car).

I think Alonso will only have a chance if the Ferrari is better than the RBR.

However, if the McLaren is on par with the RBR, and I was Mr Vettel, I would be more concerned about Mr Button and his ability to 'just get on with it'. The loss of loads of rear grip has the potential to hinder Hamilton and his more lairy style, while Button should be able to work with it without munching his tyres.

But over all, I can't wait!

Apparently the original McLaren story has been removed. Perhaps it wasn't totally accurate, or maybe someone didn't like the fact they said Vettel was a faster driver in a slower car :D

Not sure if it was mentioned but the reason why Seb (not sure about Mark but should be the same?) was so quick on the first lap was due to them heating the tyres from the exhaust gasses... which was what went wrong at Abu Dhabi.

I know that was a popular rumour, but was it ever actually confirmed?
