F1 2013 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

Would be good if Marussia are able to advance with that extra prize money (presuming they don't lose 10th place).

Feel bad for Kobayashi, is there any seats open still possible for him? Force India perhaps?

I really don't understand Sauber dropping Kobayashi.

He's hardly done poorly, and considering Perez has gone to McLaren....

$$$

Not sure if HUL brings any money, but the loss of Perez and his Pesos means they had to bring someone in who could pay their way, I'm assuming Gutierrez brings the same sort of sponsorship from Mexico?

AFAIK KOB was struggling for to bring any/as much.

It would be a shame for Kovalainen to go, given some of his performances over the past few years. He's definitely improved a lot as a driver, just had no equipment to do much more than beat all the other "new" teams in. :(

whilst I'm happy that Perez is at McLaren I would have liked:

McClaren:
Button
Di Resta

Ferrari:
Alonso
Perez

Force India
Massa
x

I'm not sure I'd have liked to see Di Resta at McLaren, I think he has been over hyped

It will be interesting to see how Perez performs next year

Deals down this end of the grid are always more about money than skill. Its why I don't think Max is as much of a certainty as people think for the Marussia seat, unless AON are writing a big cheque as we speak. There are driver's out there who will have a lot more money.

Doesn't seem to be much love for Valsecchi? Or Razia for that matter? Looks like both the winner and the runner up of GP2 may be left out this year :(. Pretty much sums up the money over talent nature of getting into F1 these days...

Valsecchi will be the first GP2 champion to not then move to F1 (ignoring Pantano), and I think that shows that the system is broken. :(

Even the GP3 winner gets an F1 test, but winning what is widely recognised as the premier feeder series for F1 means nothing if you don't have enough money.

Isn't it that the winner of GP2 can't stay on in GP2 aswell... Or did I imagine that?:p

Not nice for Valsecchi if that is the case, if you are over looked after winning another year on isn't going to help... Not sure what other series he could race in to help get noticed any more.

Senna to FI I reckon, there are mutterings about Sutil making a return, but given his conviction he wont get in to some countries (USA, Canada, China, possibly others).

Heikki will be out because he doesn't bring money. I understand Van Der Garde is in the frame and brings money.

Kamui
Heikki
Pedro
Narain
Vitaly

All out. Who are the test drivers?

McLaren - Paffett / Turvey
Red Bull - Buemi ?
Sauber - Frijns

Not really, at least not in Valsecchi's case. Taking 4 years to win the championship and doing that against a weak or inexperienced field is not particularly impressive. Caterham may give him some running as a test driver or something along those lines.

GP2 is pretty expensive in itself, and who do you think brings the money for it? ;)

As I said, the GP2 field is poor right now. Formula Renault 3.5 is where the competition is strong, and Robin Frijns just won it in his first year (with relatively little racing experience) so I rate him above any of the GP2 front-runners.

Interesting that Kovalainen basically said he won't bring money in to stay in next year, which in my mind seems like he won't be coming back next year.

My prediction long term, is at some point Senna becomes the second driver at Ferrari.

Just to keep up a trend of reasonably good Brazillians as their second driver xD

Frijns doesn't seem to be on any F1 teams radars either.

Yet a 2nd tier national touring car driver from Japan was signed to HRT.

I think Hulk moving to Sauber shows that Ferrari have their eyes on him if the Vettel thing doesn't work out. Or maybe even to replace Alonso and partner Vettel in a few years.
