F1 2013 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

hes unlucky really he would have done well a few years earlier when F1 was about proper racing and over taking

Lower team has allways been about pay drivers, the on,y differnce now. Is there is. A huge number of very top drivers. I mean there's 5 WDC on the grid alone and many more very capable drivers filling the rest of the no pay seats.

It is a damn shame though.

Please Glaucus, grammar check your posts before submitting.

And just lol at "proper racing and overtaking a few years ago". You mean the mid 00's, when the number of competitive overtakes during races was barley scraping single figures?

Kamui got into F1 through Japanese backing. Its dried up, so his chances for a drive have too. Its a shame, but that's how it goes. He's better than a lot of the drivers who are buying their seats.

No one seems to rate Perez, yet he did better than KK with less experience

Always thought KK was dreadfully annoying as a backmarker, and the occasional shows of brlilliance were massively overshadowed by strong tactics "for the camera's" rather than anything that would actually make much difference to his current race

Perez suffers from a bit of the Grosjean syndrome (only with less actual crashing). He is great when he's great, but when he's not on form he's dire.

If Perez can drive a whole season like the 3 or 4 great races he had this year he will be a solid front runner. Its just a case of wether McLaren can mould him into someone who can do that.

He has the pace. I think were all just waiting and seeing.

Looking back after another 2-3 seasons will be when we will know if drivers like Perez and Grosjean can learn/change and whether they were worth taking on or not.

But they both have a lot of potential and luckily they have been given a good chance, whether it be through backing or purely on merit (or both!) it'll be exciting to see how they progress, which can only be good for us to watch.

Chilton confirmed for Marussia

Cool, although I do think its a bit bitter sweet. Its great to have a new Brit on the grid and I hope he does well, but is he really a better driver than all of those down the grid sat on the bench?

Back up to 4 Brits on the grid though :D!

Ah Minxy, from your posts you seem to have a good insight into the Chiltons.

I assumed that with the Aon sponsorship on the GP2 cars this would carry over to F1 with Max? Is that not so?

The GP2 car driven by Chilton is owned by Capsicum Motorsport which is owned by Graham Chilton. Max recently said in an interview that his Family were no longer financial backers and that sponsorship had come from elsewhere so having Aon branding on his F1 car seems unlikely especially with the old man's recent retirement
