I think it will be vettel/alonso again. Don't think button is good enough with how close the cars have been if we gave it similar to last season.
If Button gets a car which is 0.3s/lap (or more) faster than the next fastest car, he will certainly have a chance.
There is reason to believe that like last year, McLaren will start the season with the fastest car.
G.Anderson seems to think that the Ferrari is struggling to ride the bumps and Massa did admit that Button's time was "an incredible time". That worries me.
So, at this very early stage, Button must be considered a contender for the title.
I am worried that Ferrari will once again start the season with a lemon and will need half a season to make the car competitive. And will once again rely on Alonso's genius to carry them.
At this very early stage, if I were a betting man, I'd say that Button could end up winning the first 3 GPs of the season. Once the rest of the field catch up, his wins will dry up. If the field fails to catch up then he could end up reeling off 5-6 wins in a row and will then be favourite for the title.
For the WDC though, in a season long battle, its hard to see anyone other than Vettel winning it. Vettel (the Wunderkind) and RBR know how to win titles. And Vettel is fast becoming a driver who is capable of scoring good points in any type of race (as we saw last year).
WDC, top 3 prediction at this ridiculously early stage:
1. Vettel
2/3. Alonso/Button
