F1 2013 Testing: Week 1 Jerez

Can i also add, stepping away from performance an reliability, and look at it plainly from an aesthetics point of view, it pains me to say it but the F138 really is the best looking 2013 car so far, and from all the on track images i've seen the sauber, lotus and even caterham dont look as bad as i thought they would, but the Marussia is even uglier:eek: its horrendous!!!

It's also good the be set a faster time than Rosberg on his first day while nico has been used to the team/car for 3 years.

Merc tweets just now...

@MercedesAMGF1: Update from Jerez... we have traced the problem to the hydraulic brake line connecting to the right-rear caliper

@MercedesAMGF1: The impact with the barrier also damaged the front left corner (suspension and associated aero parts)...

@MercedesAMGF1: No news yet as to when we will be back out on track

Sounds like they have all the parts to fix it then.

Brake line failed at the corner that caught fire yesterday... related maybe?

I hope someone saves all these posts just Incase Mercedes finish ahead of mclaren or even win the first race.

I hope you're right, and that he does go well this season. But you have to admit, it's not exactly an auspicious start for them or McLaren. Testing is far too limited to lose running time like this.

Honestly, I think the Sauber might be one of the better looking cars on the grid this season:

I've just realised how sloped the sidepods are on the Sauber. Another 3-4 inches off the width of the top and it'd be a straight line from the floor up to the rollhoop. That's impressive work.

They reckon the idea came from Perez's crash in Monaco, and the lack of damage the crash structure took. They though they'd be able to still keep it safe and take width off it, looks like it worked.

i wonder if they have had to sacrifice radiator surface area? also wonder if this will impact reliability in hotter climates?
