F1 2013 Testing: Week 1 Jerez

I think your being a bit too generalising.

Yes its only testing and we don't know whats going on but you can still draw rough conclusions. No single car has shot out infront, times are comparible to last year which was to be expected, and no teams are looking like they have massive issues. There also looks to be a pecking order emerging with RBR, Lotus, Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari up top, eveyone else behind, and Caterham and Marussia languishing at the back.

Basiaclly, no surprises as yet.

Merc. still aren't sure they will get out again today, could be another early end.

Unless the next 2 days are problem free, this is about as catastrophic as a first test can get, perhaps even trumping Mclaren in (?) 2011. At least the car has showed some pace.

Not really too much of an issue. Look how many teams have completely missed the first test all together in previous years.

Red Bull being one of them.

The difference is that if you plan to miss a test its because you are doing other things. If you plan to attend a test but then don't run for whatever reason, its lost time.

I could be wrong, but I just can't see Kimi being the sort of person who is capable of giving detailed/accurate feedback. He's likely to mumble a few words then then head off to his motor-home. But maybe he has a different personality, during testing.

Giving good feedback doesn't mean giving lots of feedback. If he can tell the team exactly what they need to know in 3 sentences then thats better than waffling on for an hour and leaving the team with no clues as to where to go next with setup.

More laps than anyone did at Jerez last year now at 140. They certainly are making up for lost time. Rough maths puts that at about 385 miles, or almost 2 full race distances.

I wonder if they will try and stick some low fuel fliers in at the end for show?

I imagine that stopped anyone from attempting a last minute low fuel run.

So conclusions? Mercedes making up for lost time with a car that seems quite reliable, and Ferrari have some raw pace and also seem good in longer runs.

(yes its only testing blah blah blah, shoot me).
