F1 2015 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

Jenson's reply to Webber's WEC twitter yesterday....

Mark Webber ‏@AussieGrit Nov 12

@JensonButton matey just sign that sports car contract and get on with it. Be mega to have you with/against us next year.#greatracing #JB22

@AussieGrit One day fella one day!!

Doesn't sound like WEC is going to happen in the near future, meaning Mclaren have signed him?

He certainly sounds in higher spirits than a few weeks ago :)

Suppose that throws a spanner into the "get Caterham back for Abu Dhabi" machine

It's kind of a moot point, as if Caterham don't race in Abu Dhabi Ericsson was done driving for them anyway - he's signed for Sauber next year. I suspect the team asked him if he'd like to terminate early so they would have a shot at getting another pay driver in for the one race.

I can't help but think that Vettel could end up alongside Alonso at McLaren with JB moving to Ferrari and Magnussen going back to a reserve role.

Vettel has confirmed he won't be driving a Merc powered car next season, which we all already knew. Unless I've missed something, only Christian Hornblower has named Ferrari as the team he's moving to and nothing is confirmed.

The driver market could be thrown into complete turmoil if 3rd cars get announced. I'm wondering if this is part of the reason that Vettel and Alonso aren't publicly committing themselves yet

That's what I reckon as well. If three car teams are required then conceivably Vettel/Alonso will try for the third Merc? Unless Vettel has said he won't be driving a Mercedes powered car next season?

I've heard that the third seats have to go to a rookie though :/ and they aren't allowed to score points. Which is ridiculous all over.

If they allowed the usual drivers to drive in them and they were allowed to score points that'd be epic, all for that.

I was just thinking about the rookie rule. Is that part of the same set of rules as the whole 3 car rule? Just wondering that if the two rules are separate, the rookie rule might conveniently disappear? :p

As in some bint from gp3 buying the drive?

Well that is one of the more sexist comments I have seen on this forum (and I frequent GD often).

Alice Powell is hardly "some bint". She has probably got as many championship wins as Max Verstappen though  even if it is not as consistent.
And according to tha tlink, she may only be paying for a practise seat, just like Suzy Wolff does. The actual drive could go to Van de Garde as the reserve.
