F1 2019 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

Indeed. I'd leave F1 rather than stay with McLaren. There's so much else out there to enjoy a career in motorsport. Going to McLaren is going to be painful for years.

Sebastian needs a better than Kimi teammate, both to develop the car, and to additionally motivate him for the better results.

It would be a disaster if Sebastian doesn't win this year.

Kimi is considered one of the best drivers on the grid in regards to his involvement in development of cars.

Ok, but I would still consider his results very poor. Where are his wins if he was one of the best?
I am not happy with him finishing in the best case as a second.

It's all about WDC for Ferrari rather than constructors. We have seen multiple times this year Vettel getting the better strategy and team calls. They don't want a better number 2 like the situation with Hamilton and Rosberg.

Is he? By who?

He was a top tier driver, but these days he's merely a safe pair of hands. Reliable but unspectacular. Solidly midfield.

This. He seems to be lacking that final tenth and killer instinct. Bad strategy apart. There is no reason at all for him to be so poor in races compared to vettel. Alonso in the same (tyres and fuel permitting) would be putting in qualifying lap after lap. Kimi does a few quick laps then drops off especially when behind other cars. He's safe rather than ruthless. Perhaps he needs to start drinking again.

Kimi is ideal for Ferrari, he's steady Eddie and usually guarantees a fair few points, won't upset or challenge Seb and will take it up the **** for the team when required and not complain.

Because Alonso is leaving, and it would be just his luck. At least, I imagine that's what utajoker means.

It just seems that when Alonso leaves a team he fortunes drop or the team he is joining do. He did joined Ferrari when Red Bull dominated. Then moved to Mclaren and look what happened to them. He did finish 2nd in the championship twice in the Ferrari tho.

But look at Vettel and Hamiltons team switching choices

Vettel has moved to Ferrari just as Red Bull droped from the best team to the best of the rest, and Ferrari are at the strongest they have ever been for the past couple of seasons

Hamilton moved to Mercedes when all said it was career ending, he won 3 world titles

I agree with Villeneuve's comments posted on F1i.com

Villeneuve talks a lot of sense in this article. Leclerc will end up at Ferrari if he continues to display the raw talent called out by Hamilton and Vettel. However next year is likely to be too soon.
