F1 license for new game up for grabs

Give it to someone who can make a decent hash of it.... and more importantly...

crossplatform!

Thats a contradiction usually

A cross platform game usually has a lead dev console, which looks good and any other releases are usually average at best (as devs dont usually spend time optimising for the other releases - "it works so lets get it on the shelves")

edit - GT5P is meant to have a "damage" update sometime later this year

F1 sucks donkeys **** & open wheelers make for crap online racing, Stupid weak **** bits of plastic breaking off as soon as you look at another car let alone rub doors which you don't have, Complete crap & boring crap at that. I say ignore Bernie big wallet & let F1 die the death it should have done ages ago.
Saloon car racing is the way forward for Online play & spectator viewing. You just cannot beat popping in to a show room choosing a car tricking it up painting it then taking it online to rub doors with others. Forza2 has it down on the 360 & RFactor/LFS has it down on PC.
F1 can die with Bernie he looks about dead anyway.

Don't hold anything back will you... :p
Quality over quantity?
Well I would quite enjoy a new F1 racer each year with the latest cars/drivers/tracks/rules etc even if it still based on the F1CE engine. I usually feel like playing F1 after watching F1, so I want to play the race I have just watched with the teams etc as they were when i watched it.

Give it to M$...well hopefully they will step in and take over....would be cool to have an official F1 game on the 360.

Forget Sony....
Damn - didn't think about MS - if there is one company who could possibly meet old man bernies ludicrous asking price then it's MS :(
Haha, MS having it would be pretty hilarious actually. But thats mean.

EA... you can have it

(I feel very sick for saying that)
I actually agree - give it to EA... (it does feel weird saying that) but one thing they do a good job of is sports games. The ideal situation would be for Geoff Crammond to head up a development team and for EA to pump some money in and publish it ;)

HOW Codies afford that?

The last people I expected to get it to be honest.

I have no faith in their ability to make ANYTHING like Grand Prix or F1 Championship.

Another arcade bore from codies.

excellent news that a British publisher got the rights I think (and a publisher very local to me too):D started by the guys from good old Mastertronic - I wonder if they will distribute the new F1 game on cassette via newsagents :p

Didnt CM just acquire the Sega team that made sega rally a few weeks back? It all makes sense now lol. Not sure how they will approach this game, more arcade or more realistic, both have there pros and cons personally F1CE was about right.

I think the correct business model for F1 would be to release a brand new game every 2-3 years but to release DLC for new seasons tracks/drivers etc every year... they could make a killing on this.

Stands to reason as well that they would be looking for a new franchise after the sad death of colin mcrae - maybe they will be going after a top driver to put a name to the brand?

I became bored after your first sentence so sorry i can not give you a comment back because i did not read the the rest of your post. :P

Q F T. If you don't have anything of any importance to add to the thread then don't post at all.

Did Lewis got get a pay check from Ea a while back to be on some cover, must not have worked out as well as EA hoped (thanks god)

Not bad. Only F1 game I have played is on the Sega Megadrive so the great thing is they can't ruin it for me. Codemasters know what they are doing though when it comes to racers, as long as they dont mess multiplayer up it should be good. Graphics and car damage are always amazing.

only just caught this thread but i'm glad EA didn't get it as it'd turn into any other game by with with add ons and add ons when all you wanted was a complete game in the first place.

does anyone else feel that codemasters racing games just don't ever capture you?

saying that though last F1 game i owned was 1995 season and ran on my SUPER old 486 lol ;p
