F1 Testing 2012 - Week 1, Jerez

no he didnt he said he would do things differently, he never said he intentionally rammed villeneuve

This is what I thought. It just surprised me that Benson would write something as if it was now fact (and acknowledged as fact) that MSc did try "take out" JV.

And as such admitted it was the wrong thing to do, everyone knows he tried to take him out.

Mr Men, we all know what he was trying to do. Just as we all know what he tried to do (and succeeded) in 1994 (Aus, D.Hill) and also what he did in Monaco (was it 2006, qualifying?). The question is...did MSc actually admit that any of these acts were intended? I don't think he did.

Benson does not state MS admitted it, all he said was it's the place where MS tried to take JV out, which you agree is what happened. Why does MS need to admit it before anyone can say it?

Firstly you said it's unclear he tried to take JV out, then you post that it was pretty clear what he was trying to do?

On the Schumacher thing, he was probably just imitating Senna.

Back on topic:

Ferrari lost a couple of hours of running so far. I expect Alonso to be pretty busy now making that time up.

P20 and P21 of Schumacher by Sabine Kehm

cant be bothered to type it all out, basically he thought he done nothing wrong at the time, but when Luca di and others pointed it out to him he admits he done something wrong and made a mistake, and that if there was one thing he could change about his career it would be that race.

be interesting to know what time those laptimes were set as it says the track was wet in the morning and constantly evolving in the afternoon.

It means little anyway, Kimi was the no1 at Ferrari (stop laughing at the back) MS came in cold for a test and was that close.

I always thought that it was unclear as to whether or not MSc was "trying" to take out his rival, but it would appear that most people have now accepted this as fact.

Did MSc himself ever admit that he intended to "take out" Villeneuve from the race, to win the title?

As blatant as some of the Massa / Hamilton coming togethers from last season (in reference to your ...."thought it was unclear")

I see what you mean (reading your subsequant post) but still think he did it too blatantly to be doing anythig other than that (at that point he was too skilled to be trying anything else - if you see what I mean)

Now - with a much more inferior car, (and in one sense points being more important to Merc than they ever were to Ferrari while he was there) he is less likely to try to crash as it were

Nothing wrong with it. Win at all costs. :-)

Even when all costs means being stripped of all your points for that season and losing 2nd in the WDC?

(I still bear a grudge after Adelaide '94. I was 10 years old watching it live, and cried when Hill had to pull off with a bend suspension arm. Damon has always been a double champion in my books)

Rosberg flies to the top of the times with a 1m17.613s

merc have been testing the front F-duct again acording to someones twitter.

i remember someone else tweeting how fast the merc was on some of the straights yesterday aswell , i think peter windsor

So you are thinking about an automatic FDuct which is not controlled by the driver, but perhaps by the speed of the air passing over a wing?

I can't see that either as that would be moving aero parts.
Would need to check the rule, but if it's true there must be some reason they're testing. Maybe it's something simple like seeing what happens to the air flow so they can try and design normal parts that do things at different speeds. Or maybe a loophole they found, or maybe it's just unfounded rumours.
