I fear Alonso's talent will be wasted for yet another year whilst driving a mediocre/rubbish car.

He is going to be absolutely kicking himself if Ferrari are competitive again this year.

I think he'd probably be verging on a mental breakdown if Seb wins the world title :Z

lol, I thought it sounded terrible/hilarious but when it was finally actually pulling out it sounded a bit more, normal. Then as it got to the end of the pit lane it made all manor of terrible noises, didn't sound healthy at all.

Yup, i'm still a little surprised he left. While Hamilton was bored/angry at Mclaren it was still before the big reg change and was obviously made aware of just how seriously Merc were taking the team and the new engine. But at this stage, moving to a team with a new engine a year after everyone else it felt overly risky. Honestly there was next to no chance of Honda being brilliant and reliable out of the gate. Ferrari had to make frankly less changes than Mclaren to get competitive so always seemed a stupid move. Sign a one year deal at Ferrari, if Honda either was miraculously good in the first year or at least shows signs of improvement and genuine potential as the year progressed move to Mclaren for 2016.

I think moving for 2015 will look utterly stupid by the end of the year. Not saying Ferrari will be competitive at the top this year, just think they have a significantly better chance than Mclaren do of moving up the field.

I hope that's just a dodgy phone camera, because that sounds very broken.

Not exactly the same but even the Merc had some trouble getting away down the pit lane last year making some pretty dodgy noises. I do think the Honda probably sounded worse in that video than any of the engines last year but, it's amazing how fast the engines went from sounding like the Merc did to sounding fairly smooth and normal as they sorted out timings and various settings for the engine.

Ferrari around the 2 min mark in that video sounded pretty awful around the corner.

A something, TR probably around hte 2:48 mark also sounded awful into a corner. These engines aren't pretty to hear in the first few days, raw, very very raw sounding.

Big Ron "Our 2015 livery will change, but I'm not going to say when..."

He must mean the go faster stripes :)

Definitely going to be white, they've never had pure white only tops like that for like, ever. :)

Ron said the concept of title sponsor is outdated. Cost would usually be 40-50% of budget, and spend now so high no one can afford that

Except almost every other team has a title sponsor, and costs are way down compared to what they were back in the early 00's, when McLaren... had a title sponsor.

I don't buy it.

Anyway, white top that Neale, Boullier and Button are wearing today... hope that means the livery might be white soon

Yeah, and tomorrow they'll be smoking Marlboro out back of the garage....

He wouldn't be saying that if the car had Magnussen in it, and a massive Lego brick on the side.

The thing of it is, lets say the budget was 150mil at some point, so 40-50% for a title sponsor would be 65-75mil. Okay, so maybe their budget is up at 250mil now... okay, but why is 65-75mil now wrong, why does it HAVE to be 40-50% or say 115-125mil. They would pass up the same 65-75mil deal because it's not 40-50% of their total budget... what kind of ultra retarded, ridiculous kind of logic is that. With sponsors you get the money you can get, simple as that really, any money either means more you can spend OR less of your own money you have to spend, business wise sponsorship of whatever you can get is a complete no brainer.

The only realistic thing I can think of is the team is simply worth less than he thinks the team is worth. IE someone is offering 30mil because they aren't winning nor competing for titles. He thinks both Alonso but also a good car will mean being able to sign a bigger sponsorship deal in the near future. He's praying the Honda is good and maybe half way through the season they have a ex world champ/top driver in Alonso and a competitive car and might at that stage find someone now willing to give them 60mil a year.

Not up to date numbers but Sauber/Ferrari have passed 50 laps each, Rosberg passed 150 laps, Williams 60 laps. Ferrari cars with the top two times currently. You assume Merc teams are thinking reliability and long runs rather than really seeing what the engine is capable of. Meanwhile Ferrari had good reliability but were developing to get more outright speed and more consistent top speed so their testing will likely revolve more around how fast they can go.

Either way looking like now
Mercedes 210
Ferrari 100
Renault 81
Honda 6.
