Yes.I haven't been following. Has the McLaren broken down yet?
Yes.
Andi.
Confirmation from McLaren that they have been forced to change the engine on Stoffel Vandoorne's MCL32 after yet another problem
According to the team, they have now swapped back to the engine spec used last week.
The Japanese car manufacturer had been eager to bounce back from a troubled first week with its new engine, but it did not get the start that it had hoped for.
During the morning running, an electrical issue with the latest power unit confined Stoffel Vandoorne to the garage after 34 laps.
A decision was taken for the engine to be changed, and a fresh power unit to be fitted for the afternoon. This will also be the same specification as last week.
Honda said in a statement: "We detected an electrical issue with the PU (power unit) in Stoffel's car. In the interest of maximising track time, we opted to replace it and investigate the issue further once the PU is out of the car.
"The PU we are using today is the same spec as the PU run last week at test one."
@deuse, can you stop copying and pasting the timing data with the driver flags. You're effectively hotlinking each flag and breaking the rules.
Just copy them without the flags or re-host please.
They really are a shambles. You would like to think that this engine had been running on a test bed for thousands of km before they even turned up in Barcelona. I lost a lot of interest in McLaren once Button confirmed he wasn't driving this year, and I'm rapidly losing the rest now. €31 million a year for Alonso probably doesn't feel like a lot of compensation now in return for the three years and one electrocution he's had wasting time with them.So they are going back to a previous version, that has already proved to have a major issue. This is looking as bad if not worse than the first year....
Oh dear.
Everytime you post anything to a motorsports thread I misread this as 'Audi' and wonder what that has to to with anything
I'm not particularly his biggest fan but you have to give Massa some credit 150+ laps in a day!? Thats not bad.
Vettel hit 164! I just don't get why Mclaren didnt try and get the Honda in something else i really don't. Ferrari, Renault and Merc are getting so much data from all the cars their engines are in whilst Mclarens pit crew are honing their skills in how quick can you swap an engine... Lol
they'd still probably lose that race. McLaren are inept and have been for nearly a decade.
