Although I would prefer Redknapp, I've just placed a sizeable bet on Hodgson getting the job. :p It's looking likely he'll get the job in the next couple of days.

No, my point is as soon as the press starting going on about the drop in form at Spurs being due to Redknapp being linked to the England Managers job, they should have come out and said "we don't want Redknapp."

Why string everyone along if there was never any chance of him being approached?

Are you serious? They didn't string anybody along. They never wanted him. It was the press and the stupid fans alone.

Why is he? Less medals? More clubs have been bankrupted after Redknapp has left. Seriously what has Redknapp actually achieved to garner this reputation? 1 solitary FA Cup? I don't think Hodgson is the messiah, but he's certainly no worse than Redknapp.

First of all I'm hardly Redknapp's biggest fan (and I wouldn't want him as manager either), I just think he's better than Hodgson. As for why he's better, Hodgson's big achievements have come at 2 clubs where mediocrity is considered success. On the 3 times he's taken jobs where expectations are greater (taking into account the state of Blackburn at the time) he's failed.

We have a laugh about Redknapp bankrupting clubs but it's the board that takes care of the clubs finances and gives the manager x amount to spend. Redknapp isn't responsible for what happened at Southampton or Pompey.

The job Redknapp done at West Ham and Pompey are just as impressive as what Hodgson done with Fulham and WBA but cruicially, unlike Hodgson, when he got his first chance with a bigger club with some sort of expectations, he's been an undoubted success.

And if we're going to judge managers based on medals won in Scandinavia god knows how many years ago then we may as well include the medals I've won on FM too.

imo one of Roy's finest achievements is that he's left so many Liverpool fans constantly seething. It was all his fault, that's why things are so rosy now he's gone!!

Think it's pretty disgusting how Woy has been treated already and he's not even gotten the job.

Treated by whom? Liverpool fans on ocuk? I think most will agree (and the poll backs this up) that there's a lot who feel he's the best Englishman for the job

Not just bitter Liverpool fans on here, but rather the media. Watching Match of the Day basically say they all thought Redknapp should have gotten the job, the way the media seem to be treating Woy as an unpopular second choice.

Liverpool fans are treating him disgustingly by saying we don't think he's a good manager? Tummy must be a sensitive soul if he finds anything said on here disgusting or he's saying things for effect.

And I'm pretty sure most of Hodgson's support is down to a dislike of Redknapp rather than actual support of Hodgson.

Bitter?

And as above, people thinking somebody else should have got the job is treating Hodgson disgustingly?

Why is it 'ok' to undermine an England manager before they've gotten the job?

No, you can't generalise like that, but suppose you will because you're unable to look at Woy with an unbiased view point.

I'm completely ambivilant towards who gets the England job, it's not like England are good enough at International level.

I dont dislike Arry, on the whole he's done a great job at Spurs, I dont think you can overlook how rubbish they've been since the turn of the year though (once the England job became vacant) and the on field decisions Arry's made during that time; trying to make Bale into Ronaldo, playing their best CM on the left wing etc etc

Are you for real? It's the job of the press to scrutinise the appointment and give their views. If they don't think that Hodgson should have got the job or they think that Redknapp should have then they say so. It's hardly disgusting.

And I can say what I did when there's plenty of posts in this very thread along the lines of "at least it's not Redknapp".

Liverpool fans can have their opinion, nobody pays too much attention. The press though have no excuse, their attacks before he has even had an interview are simply disgusting and I wish they would all set themselves on fire or at least have the courtesy to let me do it.
