FA CUP FINAL Chelsea v Liverpool *** Spoilers ***

but if the ball is less than 1mm over (or not) at the pace it happened at, how do expect a linesman 50yrds away to see it accurately?

Without goal line cameras we'll never really know 100% but all of the evidence/footage being released does nothing to refute the referees/linesman decision.

this tbh.

It's a difficult one though. Do I want to see goal line tech? No. Do goals need to be given when scored? Yes

So if a linesman isn't fit enough to keep up with the play we should accept his errors?

It wasn't an error because the ball didn't cross the line,if it was reversed I very much doubt you be shouting that Chelsea were supposedly robbed, you would be saying exactly the same as we are now the ball didn't cross the line

I thought you'd say that. :D

I'm saying that you can't say 100% either way, so with it being inconclusive, it's not a goal.

All these cameras seem to suggest it didn't clearly go over the line, and we know for a fact that the linesman didn't see it clearly cross the line - therefore it's not a goal.

No, you said very clearly that it wasn't over the line. You're now claiming something different.

The lino shouldn't give the goal unless he's 100% sure that it was a goal but that doesn't mean it wasn't over the line and therefore a goal. As I've said, it's extremely close and we can't tell for certain whether it was or wasn't over the line. If the lino wasn't sure then you can forgive him for not awarding it but his uncertainty doesn't change whether it was over the line or not.

If you don't want goal like technology you have to accept that this will happen.

It's the job of the linesman to decide if the ball crossed the line. He's obviously quite sure that it didn't, therefore if he had given a goal it would have been wrong.

You're certain that it's a goal yet you can't say why? Because you simply don't know. :)

In my opinion from the pictures, it doesn't seem to be over the line. However we've established that they aren't perfectly accurate but that's all we have to go on.

My opinion comes from that and the fact the linesman seemed certain it didn't cross the line.

that's a fair comment.

Still a bloody goal tho :P

As a liverpool fan i don't know what would have been more embarsing. League position or 2 trophies after how **** we have been this season. Im kinda happy we lost anything else would have glossed over how **** we have been this season.

ps **** means ****

The linesman was certain about it? How do you know that? Officials shouldn't send players off or award goals unless they're 100% certain. Decisions not to send players off and not give goals doesn't mean they're 100% that was the correct call.

By your thinking Chelsea's goal in the semi was nailed on because the ref had to be 100% certain to allow it.

There's no such thing as 100% in these sort of situations, unfortunately.

I'm using the fact that the pictures suggest it didn't cross the line, and the man who's job it is to decide (and should be best positioned) didn't think it crossed the line.

Therefore in my opinion, it didn't cross the line.

Well there you go take it on the chin and get on with it,there is a chance Newcastle could finish in the top 4 and because Chelsea win the champions leauge will not qualify we will take it on the chin and get on with it that's life

What do you mean, there you go take it on the chin? That has absolutely nothing to do with me being outraged if Chelsea got robbed by a wrong decision.

On a separate note, how in the **** did Juan Mata get motm over many other Chelsea players, or Andy Carroll? (Also does anyone think he looks like a slightly more attractive Rooney?)
