FA Cup weekend and midweek Prem Games up to the 27th **SPOILERS**

Wasn't this the season that Wenger guaranteed to end the clubs 5 year wait for a trophy? Granted at the moment they're in title race (although with their fixture list coming up I can see them being out of it again come the end of Feb) and they're in the Champions League but surely the safe bet for a trophy would have been the Carling Cup and FA Cup and in both Wenger has played under strength teams and has been found out.

Arsenal's first team has a horrendous record at Stoke as it is so what was he thinking putting out that team today?

I totally agree. We struggle against them with our first team not alone our second string defence. With some of the bigger teams already out I thought this was an ideal chance to get a trophy this season. :(

Stoke deserved the win today. Hats off but I still think we could have got the win with a stronger team.

The ball drying was a big joke, they were even using it for short throws. I was hoping that Arsenal would nick the lead and then start drying the ball but that was never going to happen with the way we played :(

I think Campbell did have a good game considering his situation and not playing for ages. But when I saw the back line I knew we were in trouble. The full backs had a poor game. And to partner Silvestra with campbell was just asking for trouble.

After the goal we looked better but it was such a poor game for us. The passing was cringeworthy in the first half.

So going from 2nd favourites to lift the cup we have gone to outsiders for the league and Champions league. I think considering our chances I would have put out a full team for the cup as it was our best chance of success.

Not saying we cant win the league but I think our best chance has gone now.

Next four games are going to be VERY good or VERY bad for us.

To quote Arseblogger

He's on a hiding to nothing no matter what he does. Play kids and lose and he's going to be condemned by those who say he should have played his strongest side and really gone for the FA Cup (and this will be repeated until the end of the season and beyond if we come up short in the Premier League and Champions League). He could play the more experienced players and win but if we struggle against Villa or United then he'll be accused of being stupid for not resting the players for the FA Cup when the Premier League was more important.

We have several injuries at the moment, so it makes sense to play a weaker side.

Inter 2-0 Milan

Excellent Inter performance considering they played the majority of the game with 10 men. Controlled the game from start to finish and never really looked in trouble. Milan sucked. Dreadful at the back without Nesta and dreadful up top without the invention of Pato.

Jeez, yet another tough home draw for Chelsea:mad:
Last year we had to play Southend, Ipswich, Watford, Coventry then Everton on our way to winning it and this year we've had Watford, Preston & now Cardiff, it's definitely a fix, I bet we get Reading/WBA if we get through:rolleyes:

I've honest forgot the last time Chelsea got a half decent Premier League side even at home in the FA Cup let alone playing them away. Seems every single draw they get a lower league side, been like that for years and years now, It's either a fix or you're just very very lucky

Us on the other hand have had Spurs in the last 2 seasons, Arsenal 2 years ago and we always seem to get drawn with Villa. Leeds have probably saved us some potentially tricky fixtures :p

I thought the commentary today said Arsenal had quite a few players coming back for injury ready for AV/ Man Utd games?

Eboue should be back soon as the Ivory Coast went out. Song could be back, depends on Cameroon results, they play tomorrow.

Nasri will be out for a few more weeks. Diaby/Bendtner could be back, Sagna should be. I believe Wilshere was just ill today, but he might get loaned out, not sure about Merida.

So maybe a couple of players back, but Bendtner isn't going to be match fit, Clichy/Walcott are only just coming back too.

RvP/Gibbs/Djourou for the Season.

Care to quote where I used the word "fix" or claimed it was? I was stating Chelsea got an easy draw again, the FA Cup is generous to them.

Denilsons tracking of Sidibe for Stokes 2nd goal was a disgrace, looked like a half jog for the most part. As soon as you see the lineup it was head scratching time, Silvestre at CB against Stoke lol.

Walcott needs either shooting or out on loan to another club, he is totally clueless and doesn't have a drop of confidence.

All in all another reality check for Wenger and highlights just how weak the squad depth is.

Because the FA like Chelsea more then other clubs?

So they "fix" the draw so that Chelsea get easy games? :D

That Silvestre played today and Arsenal lost :D

Other then that, not much. Why didn't Traoré play?

Apparently old Sol played well despite the loss :)

I don't know why Traore didn't play, and more importantly considering he didn't play football at all today, why on earth did we stick him out on the pitch for 90 minutes?

He was absolutely crap, again, I have no idea how he made it at Arsenal this long, truly awful player. Thing is all I hear is how doesn't really like defending and he's more of a winger, yet the 3 times he bothers going forward in a game, his interplay is terrible, his crossing is woeful, his shooting is beyond crap, positioning, passing, and somehow for someone whose so fast he's always late getting into a challenge, I assume because he seems to react so late. What makes it even worse is he shows no hint of bravery or determination, which in so many players makes up for a complete lack of actual talent. Lazy and crap and getting 10k+ a week :(

Theo Walcott may aswell not have been on the pitch, the one key time he got played in behind the defence he delayed the cross then blasted it in with Vela, and maybe Fab and someone else all across the goal face waiting for a tap in and he blasts it about 30 yards over the goal. Again, useless passing, positioning, reactions, bravery, determination, delivery and barely uses his pace, even worse he'll be on 2-3 times what Traore's on and has already been to one world cup :(

Why we played a DM with no experience at right back I have no clue, get dumped out of a cup and have the fans blame the youngsters, could have easily stuck someone else in there. Of everyone we did rest today, Fabregas was the most recently back from injury and the most important to rest, yet he plays the entire game, its god damned madness.

The only hilarious thing was Campbell actually wasn't too bad, except for you know, when he was useless. First goal, stood between 3 Arsenal players, not picking anyone up and ignoring Fuller, next goal, pathetic attempt at getting the ball from Denilson, a ridiculously late Traore moving wide and Campbell not getting close enough to Fuller for a second time.

In a month, under a month, in 6-7 games we have a very good chance of being 10points off the top of the league again and out of the Champs league, while most of the big hitters are already out of the FA Cup, so we throw it away? For all the games we absolutely refused to rest players, in completely unimportant games, this is the one he choses to rest people, and he plays Fabregas for the full 90? The key player who we'd want to rest he didnt' anyway, so what the hell was the point.

We had two strikers who suck as wingers, starting on the wing today, so just waiting to cap of a ridiculous month with Arsenal buying another striker, who as soon as RVP is fit he'll force to play on the wing. We need 2 CB's, not desparate cover, but defenders who are actually good enough that they aren't a liability, we need a winger or two, and to shift some of the dead weight.

Went to the Arse game, the team never seemed like they were interested in winning. Wenger left his seat about 2 times in total and the players seemed to just want to get it over and get back to London. I'm surprised how little Wenger values the FA cup, the team he put out had only Cesc who I'd consider first choice if everybody was fit. That's not enough (only sometimes)

Strangely, I thought Sol was brilliant for the most part, got his head on almost everything, him and Cesc were Arsenal's best performers.

Also, was sat straight behind Delap for his throw in for 1 - 0, never seen anything like it. It's flat as a pancake and spins from left to right in the air, all while going incredibly far and very fast. Undefendable.

Very annoying seeing Stoke foul Arsenal repeatedly and just hearing the stupid Stoke fans sing 'same old Arsenal ..' when it's the most ironic thing they could sing :(

I know your precious little boys don't like any contact but have you seriously been watching them for so long that you forget that football is a man's game? Man up, buttercup.

I can't understand English fans. Do you truly believe that when the ball is gone and a Stoke player kicks an Arsenal player to the ground it's because Arsenal aren't 'men'?

If you're anything like the apes I encountered at the ground you probably will (the guy behind me said about 7 or 8 times 'How can it be a foul ref he's gone for the ball' - I felt like turning around and saying 'they're missing it everytime you buffoon' alas, I'm nicer than that). I despair at the teachings of football in this country. No wonder our national team has been so unsuccessful :( we actually encourage this, don't we? (some of us, I believe football should be played with the ball not on people's shins)

There's a difference between a competitive game and one where one team just kicks the other nearly every time they get the ball. You seem to be struggling with that :(
