FA Cup weekend and midweek Prem Games up to the 27th **SPOILERS**

I don't think it's like that at all, what spunj is trying to say is that it's all wailing arms and moan ing when Arsenal get kicked about but people are quick to forget how Arsenal used to go about playing the game but you don't recognise anything unless it has been in the last few years, is that right?

In fact only last season when we spanked you, most of your players were running round kicking lumps out of Nani and Ronaldo.

Oh how quick you forget these things when the 'toughies' of Stoke roll you over.

I'm not moaning about people doing it to Arsenal per se, just that it happens. The average English football fan encourages aggression and filth and berates the johnny foreigners who have to endure it (for being kicked! something I find supremely moronic). I don't understand this and will never feel the same.

You support Man Utd so I don't expect you to see loads of it, can't really think of a dirty Man Utd player atm and in fact, Man Utd have never been a dirty team really

Edit - Fletcher, forgot

Also, Arsenal are top of the fair play league iirc although I could be wrong there.

Edit 2 - Just because Arsenal players in the past may be considered dirty by you, doesn't mean I condone them or their fouls in any way at all. I think deliberate fouling and sabotaging of play is disgraceful and ruins football. Unfortunately that's what most teams try to do against Arsenal as they 'don't like it up 'em' (lol, who in the world likes to be kicked? dumb journalists)

Are you foreign?

I would love MU to start kicking lumps out of people, we are lacking someone to kick off when it starts getting nasty nowadays.

No Whiteside/Robson/Keane/Butt, all pussies we have now :/

Fair enough, our opinions obviously differ. Always thought that I should have been born in Spain in football terms, they play a game which resonates with me much more than the English game

Exactly, we don't have any anymore :(

Also, we do get kicked around as much as anyone, difference is we don't cry like girls when it happens ;)

Diving, play acting, general cheating......

I can see why you're an Arsenal fan now ;)

I meant the keeping it on the floor and less aggression ;)

I know Man Utd get kicked but I'm almost sure Arsenal get it the worst, you don't see headlines in the paper every week from Man Utd's oponents saying "We're going to get into them, be aggressive and not let them play", it really gets your spirits down approaching a game of football when you know the other team are going to do everything to stop the football, rather than joining in and playing their part in the game :(

It has become a more common trait across all games though recently, seeing as there are fewer and fewer teams that actually set out to win rather than setting out to not lose

By the way, how long was Ferdinand banned for? 3 games was it? (I'm not being cheeky, just haven't seen the news about it)

There's nothing wrong with aggression in the game. It'd be boring without it. When a game is going flat you need a Batty/Bremner sliding challenge that cleans someone out whilst winning the ball. Gets the game going.

Arsenal never got bullied when they had Vieira/Keown/Adams et al. You play kids you get old manned. I've built my personal footballing 'career' out of bullying nippy little kids out of the game.

Totally fine if they get the ball, I like a good challenge which is aggressive but fair. I should state that it's the fouling that I find insufferable, when it's every 2 or 3 passes, another foul, a minute goes by, foul, etc. etc. it ruins the game. It also irritates me as it's obvious their manager has just said to them, if a different one of you fouls them every few minutes they won't get going and it'll ruin the game and you won't get a yellow, it must be the only reason they're doing it as some of the fouls as so obviously avoidable yet they smash in anyway as they know they're not going to get booked (c'mon they're English!)

I don't know why I'm arguing my point in a place filled with people who will disagree with me.

While we are debating the "beautiful game" since Stoke have been in the premiership we have played Arsenal 4 times and there has been 1 red card and that was Van Persie. Yesterday Stoke were just better than Arsenal and probably should have scored more than just 3.

Some teams play to their strengths, you must realise that :/

Stoke, Bolton, Pompey, Hull ain't going to turn up and pass you off the park are they?

If they can get a result by getting in your face and putting you off your game then they will.

MU have had this for years, it's called 'being a big team'

Teams try and kick Chelsea off the park but soon realise they can clob with the best of them :)

Aye, I'm just saying it's stupid and the reason this country are so far behind in technique and footballing terms.

How come when I watch lower quality Spanish teams they're trying (and failing, but still trying) to pass it round Real/Barca and trying tricks and putting together quick moves, why aren't they kicking them? Maybe it's just our country which is a bit delusional and think it's necessary for smaller teams to do it instead of learning how to get better with the ball at your feet, it's a lazy and annoying way to get around improving yourself, just kick 'em :/

Edit - For the record, last season when Liverpool and Arsenal drew 4 - 4, Liverpool were aggressive, fired up and got in Arsenal's face. They played brilliantly and didn't give Arsenal a chance, they weren't remotely dirty though, their pressure was good and they kept crowding Arsenal out and winning the ball cleanly. That I can respect, the teams who set out to foul, nope

Every so often you have a Bolton/Burnley/Stoke beating a top 4/Europe slot team by playing the way they do. You play to your strengths.

The skills developed by young English players are not the same as those developed in Spain.

I don't agree that the English league is far behind elsewhere. Just have a contrasting style. One I much prefer.

One which sees us triumph more often than not over Continental football teams/Gayers.

Feels as though our game is very one dimensional and doesn't take any amount of skill though, probably why there's about 4 English players playing abroad

Look at how English teams fare in the CL. When was the last time we didn't have a large contingent making it through the group stages?

Where as on the other hand the 'English' determination and fight gets most of our teams into the later stages of the CL where as your wonderfully gifted Spanish and Italian teams are looking forward to the Europa Cup.

I know which I would prefer :)

^^^ Bah, I type too slow!

Money has been getting us into the latter stages of the CL for a few years, nothing else. Before the money we weren't dominating Europe.
