Failed PayPal and Western Union payments but taken from bank account

So you sent some random person £250 via PayPal. Said random person then told you the payment had failed despite it leaving your bank account and told you to try again via Scammers Western Union. You then went ahead and sent them another £250? Yeah, you're not seeing that £500 again.

Don't give up OP, persistence will pay off. Send them another £250. Actually send them £500 in case the first £250 doesn't make it.

Chick don't dig quitters.

You know what gets me though. If the bank was contacted they should be able to reverse ALL transactions no matter what payment processor you use.

100% you NEED to contact them NOW.

Then update us with what they say.
Once the payment has been sent that is it though.

It shouldn't be. Surely banks SHOULD be able to reverse ALL transactions.

oh dear...

You can cancel a money transfer only if it has not been picked up by your receiver. If you sent money to a bank account, you can cancel it if the transfer has not been completed by your receiver’s bank.

To request a refund, please call Customer Care, or if you sent the money in person, return to the agent location.

* The amount of money refunded (amount sent and/or transfer fees) depends on the service chosen and reason for cancellation. If you have questions regarding the amount to be refunded, contact Customer Care. Please also see our Terms and Conditions for more information.

Well it's difficult. This is why there is such awareness over fraud now and why you have to jump through so many obstacles to actually send your money. Basically the OP fell for a scam that is well publicised, well known and ignored all the advice on eBay. Sorry but the bank is not at fault here.

Yep. Maybe we need to up security more so it asks you to read something then continue. If you agree to continuing then the banks are not at fault. You only get scammed once before wanting to read everything. :D

I don't know about WU but for actual banks whenever I do a transfer I get asked to double check, am I sure etc etc. The warnings are very clear.

Indeed. I even get asked that when transferring monies betwixt my Halifax current account and my Halifax Savings account on the app.

Crude question...Are you trying to bang the mum? I've never spent £250 on any of my friends or their kids
Seller messaged me to say payment not gone through on PayPal. Tried again - not gone through her end. Then one WU. Two more payments came out fraudulently from PP.

Five payments of roughly £50 each. The toy retails at £135.

So you sold off ebay by the sounds of it?

Did you use paypal good and services or paypal friends and family? Not sure how additional payments could be made from paypal without your authorisation TBH.

Problem here is you've allowed the recipient to tell you it hadn't been received instead of taking it up with paypal. Hopefully you've raised it with PayPal already.
