Failed PayPal and Western Union payments but taken from bank account

Wow lol

But i think you got the advise you needed.....

Ring bank, Ring Paypal, stop being a mug.

OP I have discovered there is a pigeon in your bank account, so I need to remove it as soon as possible. It has spent a lot of time near the air-conditioning, and it now has the flu, bird flu in fact. So now I need your account details so I can move the money out of your bank account, then we can send in a decontamination unit to steam clean your bank account and the money, then we can return the money once the decontamination is complete.

Who would ever use western union?

Probably money gone
WU is wonderful for accepting payments it can't be reversed/chargeback'd and it can't be traced its almost as good as cash.

Which is great if you're a seller, but terrible if you're a buyer. Its why scammers love it and why eBay warn you as a buyer not to use it under any circumstances.

Seller messaged me to say payment not gone through on PayPal. Tried again - not gone through her end. Then one WU. Two more payments came out fraudulently from PP.

Five payments of roughly £50 each. The toy retails at £135.

Did you use PayPal friends and family or payment for goods and services? If the latter then you should get that back, if friends and family then I'm afraid that's probably gone! Not sure how the additional 2 payments would have gone through. The WU payment is almost certainly gone as well.

No but it was on the advise on the bank.

Very unlikely they have your card details or they wouldn't have bothered with paypal/WU

I have Apple Pay which I hardly use. Santander updated my AP with the new card immediately, so can use it. A very useful thing.

Just need to wait for the new card to do online payments - Amazon, Healthspan etc. As need the CVV (3 numbers on signature strip)

Have you applied for refunds?

and this is why banks give sod all interest because instead it's used to cover the costs of "fools and their money who are easily parted"
I only did three payments myself and two were fraudulent. One was made at 3:15am (when I was asleep) made in Laos Kip. I didn’t know the currency of Laos until yesterday.
