Fallout 3 mods

Also, another thing that i find very useful is to change the timescale. If you would like to speed up or slow down the timescale then this is what you need to do

open the console in game with the tilde key
type in "set timescale to " whatever you want it to be (without the "'s)

I have it set to 6, so that 1 real hour is 6 in game hours. It can get annoying when the time moves too quickly when you are out exploring

I should add that the default timescale is 30

I've always wanted to find a way to make the time scale like our own, thanks for the tip. So many games it runs away too fast for me. :)

Awesome, I'll give that a try, thanks.
I installed as many mods as I possibly wanted today and they all work brill, well for the moment.

Crapped myself when the lightning from Enhanced weather appeared. :o

I'm just looking for the mod which disables the immediate startup of all DLC. What's the point in you getting notifications of Point Lookout etc after only just exiting the vault.

DLC Delayer
Or FOOK2 does it automatically as well. Not sure about FWE.

It changes the radio signals so that they have a much smaller range and you have to be close to them in order to recieve them. Makes much more sense to me

The sound effects are awesome

This was uploaded recently - Teen Boy Player voice. Not sure whether to give it a go or not.

I've not had that happen mate. Have you tried the stutter remover and quad core fix?
What settings are yoy playing on? are you sure your gpu can handle it:p;)

3.6GHz Tri core Phenom II, 4GB, 5850, XP.

It handles everything else I throw at it without complaints.

edit: I've found the multicore cpu tweak, I've set my bUseThreadedAI to '1' and added iNumHWThreads=2 to the ini file.

Fingers crossed!

How much moding would it be worth doing if I've not played the game before?

Just wondering if I'm better experiencing the game as is, or just mod the hell out it and start with that. :p

Bought the goty edition in the sale.

No opinion on this? or would I be better to ask which of the mods mentioned would be better to leave out on first playthrough.

To be honest I'd add most of them. Now depending on whether you want to simulate hunger or not then I'd add FWE, if not Id do the mods manually.

From what I've played, I suggest you at least get in to the wasteland first and then apply the mods.

Try Fellout and the dynamic weather, they do actually make the game 'feel' and look better.

Are there any decent NPC replacer mods? I have seen a few Star Wars models and Battelefield 2142 gear lurking around on the internet. I want to replace the npc troops with those from BF 2142 and Star Wars Stormtroopers.

Also, is there a mod where you can build your own robots and drones to act as your companions?

In the process of downloading all the popular ones, taking ages though - my isp will be going nuts with all the steam sale stuff I've already downloaded.

Might go this route, although atm I'm tempted just to throw it all in and see what happens :D

You can buy them in the vanilla game.

I have a Sergeant RL-9, he's very handy as I'm only a level 10 (16 hours play).

Where damn you, WHERE?
I played half way through the game on the 360 but still didn't buy any robots for companions :(

Also in reply to Fred, just play the Vanilla game normally before applying any mods, get into the wasteland and a little bit of exploring so you get use to it. Add the mods and watch that place change before your eyes! If you add the mods straight away, you're not really seeing the effect IMO

Lets see if we can get some screenies going!

Although I'm unsure why there is a black box type thing around my moon, hides the stars in its vicinity. Is the moon and the sky from different mods or?
This was near the super-duper mart.

There's often a caravan/trader outside the RobCo facility who is defended by the robot, he sold me said robot for 1000 caps. :D

I would definitely say this. Get into the game a bit and see what you like/dislike about it first, then build the game you want based on the mods that look like you would like them.
Personally, i would add an Overhaul first, and probably the cosmetic mods such as NMC's texture pack, Fellout and the Weather mods, as they do not change gameplay, but greatly enhance the game.

Also, a hunger mod would probably be a good idea, though they are not for everyone

YES! I have been playing with this - Buildable Bots, it's a great mod which for a start, changes the loot you get from destroyed robtots, so that there are more parts to collect and you can then use these parts in the ROBCO facility to build your own with a high enough science skill:)
It's ridiculous, i have been on a game for around 130 hours and i have never seen the trader with Sergeant RL-9!!

To get lists of all of the most popular mods, go to Fallout Nexus, click on the Top 100 files of all Time then it will give you the most endorsed mods. You can then change the category so that it gives you the top 100 textures/gameplay mods/weapons/quests etc. But it is very easy to get lost in them!!

Here are some piccies with some of the mods on:) The shots are at a low res because thet were taken on my laptop, which doesn't even play in the highest setting.

The atmosphere of the game is so much better with Fellout on, it removes the horrible green tint to the game making skies bluer among other things
Also, this shows the Caravan travel mod which uses travel caravans instead of the usual fast travel.

Also, you can see the DUI with RIPrimary needs plugin telling me thrirst/hunger etc.

Big Town Overhaul, making Big town much better. Also, you can see the Leather backpack mod
