Fallout: New Vegas

New patch incoming with a MASSIVE list of fixes:)

Worth hanging on a few more days before start then.....

A quick Q to the modders - how stable is NV with a few mods? Am torn whether to just play it straight or have a little tinker before playing.

Nothing much game-play wise, just graphics and sound improvements if possible.

I really don't want to bother however if there ends up being glitches/crashes.

Buenos texture patches improve textures and actually imtove performance for some people. Also Fellout and Enhanced shaders should be ok. (i made a massive list of about 100 mods that i will install the next time i play it)

Got to New Vegas Nexus and change the file sorter to top 100 and you will find all of the best mods there.
You can then change it to the different categories (gameplay/graphics) to find the best mods of different types

I just recently completed a playthrough with the NCR. :D

Can I ask, what mods are recommended to make the ingame items/clutter better?

I already have the poco beuno mod for some of the environment, and the weapon retexture project.

TBH, i can't imagine playing it without siding with the NCR. Just seems like the natural playthrough for me

I'm not really sure what you mean? New items/weapons, or just a UI mod like Darn's or MTUI?

Tailor Maid has lots of mix and match armour which makes thingS interesting.

Also, the overhauls such as **** and Project Nevada add tons of weapons and armour. And tweak the existing items.

Personally I used **** New Vegas on my first playthrough along with A World of Pain which was great.

On my next play, i will use FOOK2, Project Nevada, AWOP and many other gamechanging mods:D

Everything should be fixed by the time i start my massively modded playthrough when all the dlc has come out:p

ffs, still no sniper rifle carbon fiber fix, what the hell!!

thats what i'm doing, waiting till all the DLC is released but building up my list of mods whilst playing my visually upgraded only fallout3 for the first time.

I am currently over 100 hours In to a fallout 3 game with around 150 mods running. Imo, it is the best game ever with mods.not. even done half of the quests yet.

Aye, FO3 has really got me into the mod scene and I can't play a new game now without thinking "Hmm I wonder what mods are out there...". Shame I'm a bit thick at modding - I can even get NV's Type 3 body to work at the moment :confused: I might need to ask for a thicko's walkthrough here soon :D

If it's anything like the Fallout 3 version, only use one version and make sure you unpack the specific texture/mesh folders into your fallout NV data folder, not just the "type 1"(or whatever) folder.:)

And make sure you have Archive Invalidation set. No custom meshes or textures work without it

Thanks man, I'll have a tinker later. I think my FOMM already has Archive Invalidation running by default but I'll download another version just in case.

I've just spent a lot of time recently modding the games i want to play;)

With Fallout 3 i must have tried every mod on the Nexus

And the Fallout/Elder Scrolls games are so good with mods that everyone should try them to get the best experience, especially as a lot of people find the vanilla games a bit flat sometimes

Fingers crossed it doesn't mess up mods. Only got NV a few weeks ago and haven't have a chance to play it properly as I'm still (slowly) modding it up, had it stable and running fine with the majority of the mods I wanted, but there was still a few more that I want to add before playing.

Quick question. How is the support for Gamepads in Fallout? I'm actually more interested in Skyrim - but Fallout is newerer, and i'm preferring to lay back on the sofa and play games on the big screen these days.
