Fallout: New Vegas

Way to go Obsidian dropping GFWL means no DLC when the 360 gets it like with Fallout3

Bethesda just announced DLC as 360 exclusive tomorrow with other version's to follow later which usually means around 2 months so PC will get when/if PS3 version arrives as no incentive for MS to let this drop earlier when its on Steam/PSN

I'm of two minds about if I should buy this. I realy enjoyed fallout 3 but I just didn't want to pay the extra money for all the additional content which only adds a couple hours of gameplay. If I get new vegas which is a whole game so will be worth the money, will I be missing out any major story aspects due to not playing the fallout 3 DLC?

i've looked through this thread andi'm even more hyped for this now, it's taken all my self control to not look at any movies about it!

Only thing i'm a bit upset about is that it's locked until Friday, i can normally get the game early from work (hopefully tomorrow!) but i wont be able to paly it. :(
At least i can look at the pretty collectors edition that's coming my way. I'm also hoping for a hard back strategy guide like Fallout 3 had. That was a really nice book.

Whats wrong with GFWL achievements?

I enjoy having them tied to my xbox account, means I dont have to buy it again. to be fair though, as long as their are achievements, steam, gfwl I'm not bothered, I just like objectives to keep me motivated after I've completed a game.

I think the way you worded it before was that you only played for the achievements, which is a bit silly imo.
Achievements are nice but shouldn't really be a deciding factor on whether you buy the game. :)

It still sounds like he does otherwise it wouldn't make a difference whether they were GFWL or not...

Nobody gives a flying **** about gamerscore. If what you enjoyed was getting the achievements, which is something i do enjoy as it gives me something extra to aim for if the achievements are done right (i hate that Gnome!!!). Instead it seems more like what you really deem important is some sort of inherent e-peen gained from getting them on your profile that nobody is ever going to look at and nothing to do with the achievements (or the game) themselves.

There are two things that are wrong with GFWL Achievements. Firstly GFWL. And secondly, Achievements. Neither have any place on PC.

I don't give a rats ass about e-peen, I just like extra objectives to keep me playing after the main story is over with.

GTAIV for example, you can bet your life I wont be going to get those pigeons, but because the Achievements in FO3 were realistic and involved learning some storyline it gave me an extra incentive to do them as generally after I've played a game I don't really play it anymore as I've got loads of games I've not completed.

If that makes sense.

Really want this to be totally awesome but just found out its only been in development since Aug 2009  that was when Bethesda contacted Obsidian about doing it  not sure 1 year is enough to create an awesome game even if it does use the same game engine (which is also reported to crash quite a lot on 360's already unless they clear the cache).

Lowering expectations again now :( (please let this game not suck as its the only really decent release left on PC this year!!). But all the evidence is giving me a big clue its probably going to be a letdown.......
