Fallout: New Vegas

Turning off adaptive power mode for this game in the nvidia drivers has really helped sort out the constant crashing I was getting.

It was mostly crashing after dialogue, trading and so on, or if it didn't crash it would dip to 5 fps for a bit. It's solved that too.

How'd you do that? Can't see it anywhere in the Nvidia control panel.

Also, I've got an i5 760 and a GTX260 - does anyone know if I'd be better off setting PhysX to be handled by the CPU?

^ Fallout doesn't use PhysX, it uses Havok which only uses the GPU in one game I know of and even then you have to enter a command to get it to do so

Picked this up yesterday. Already restarted my character twice. I had, as many others did, performance issues. But after I used the .dll file the game runs very smooth, only a few stutters, but a lot better.

I didn't take any of the perks at the start. I nearly took the one that gives 20% accuracy but -20% fire rate. I'd like to guess that I can take them later on if I change my mind?

No, traits (which have a positive but for a negative trade off) can only be taken at the start and give much more pronounced changes than the perks gained though levelling which are all positive.

Anyone had Cass vanish on them?. We had the Heartache by the numbers discussion and decided to kill the CC's and Van Graffs but before we did so I told her to wait at Durable Dann's caravan whilst I went back to the Crimson Caravan office to finish the last McLafferty quest I had at the time. I then returned to Durable Dann's where I left her but she has vanished. :(

Fast travelled back and forth to a few other locations and returned but still no sign of her. I'm now outside the Silver Rush ready to charge in and cause mayhem but I'm wondering if Cass should be there and also even if I just go on ahead myself how on earth I'm going to find her again when I come out?.

Anyone had this, her vanishing?.

Who says you cant travel the waste land in style :D

Just had great fun with Cass and cleared out Silver Rush. So much loot to carry I had to divide it up over all 3 people.

On another slightly buggy note, has anyone noticed that rather than just stealing items that are out in the open, you can just use the pick up feature and drag it to another room where your hidden ? I stole the most expensive item from a shop by doing this and then just sold it back to the same vendor 5 seconds later!

I also got the alien blaster earlier on and although the ammo is limited, its amazing at destroying people in one hit.

That Pimpboy is awesome!!!. Is that a Photoshop or something or is it a mod/skin for the in-game one?. :)

go to http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_companions

That website gives you the console commands on how to move your companion to you, all you need to do is click on the link of the companion you use, get the correct ID and then use the commands.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide dealing with this dll fix I keep hearing about?.

I reformatted my main system and went to Windows 7 64bit Home Premium today from a Vista OS which I had Vegas running on last week. It ran fine under Vista x86 with a slight bit of stuttering but not too much to notice. However under the fresh Windows 7 install I'm not only getting stuttering but also the game freezes for a split second as I rotate my field of view especially in new areas that my character has not looked at before. Rotate to look back at what you have just looked at and it is fine. I downloaded and installed the latest Nvidia drivers from the net today during the reformat which are supposed to help with performance in Vegas. But sadly, despite a nice fresh install of a 64bit OS instead of a 32bit one I'm seeing a drop in performance on exactly the same PC system. :(
