No we don't. I got Reina, he'll score just as many points (if not more) and is cheaper.

You got me excited then, alas Cech and Reina are the same price

Could have sworn that Cech was £7m. Im sticking with Reina anyway, he's one the golden gloves award for the last 2 seasons (most clean sheets).

Made some changes to my team though, after discovering you can change formation:

---------------------Reina
-----------------------------------------------
------Finnan---------Terry----Woodgate
----------------------------------------------
Ronaldo(c)---Fabregas----Teale--------Johnson
-----------------------------------------------
------Torres-----McCarthy------Berbatov

Mine:

----------------Howard----------------

G Neville---Carvalho----A Cole--P Neville---

Ronaldo (c)--J Cole---McShefrey--Lennon

-----------Berbatov---Yakubu-------

In my experience of the past 3 years of fantasy football, its not always the best idea to get a keeper playing for the big four as they often have nothing to do. Middle of the road keepers like James, Howard and Friedal are much better options, they always have to make saves (3 saves = 1 point) and often get bonus points (James especcially).

Everyone should have Niemi, no excuses. Cheapest keeper and he's first choice, very rare you'll get that so snap him up, just as a sub :)

Ripper, any other useful info we should know? I wasn't aware of the shots saved stats contributing to points made, in fact there doesn't seem to be a great deal of information on the official site. So any golden nuggets you can share would be much appreciated. :)

Man i remember the days where you got points for goals, assists and clean sheets, this is far too complicated.

Just realised that im 20 and saying things like "i remember the day.."

Just wait until you realise the fact that you're older than more than half of the team your support. I never really thought about it until now because as a teenager all my favourite players were x amount of years older than me, now I'm cheering on players younger than me and it's bloody strange. lol :p

Ripper, regarding the keepers: Roughly how many saves on average would James (or similar) make? Trying to work out if its better to have a keeper who makes few saves but keeps a clean sheet or one that makes loads but concedes a couple of goals.

fortunately there's not any player younger than me in our 11, atm anyway.

I remember last season that a clean sheet for your keeper and defender automatically bagged you 6 points

yea i know the points for clean sheets etc, but just trying to work out how many saves a keeper at one of the lesser clubs usually makes.

Looking at last year, Friedal made the most saves with 162, Hahnemann 2nd with 159, and James third with 149. Reina had the most clean sheets with 19, 5 more than Howard with 14.

Howard also made 138 saves which makes him a good choice as a keeper as he makes a lot of saves and gets a good number of clean sheets.

Another factor to look at when choosing a keeper is penalty saves, Friedal made 4 last season which is worth an extra 20 points alone.

Well, if your keeper could manage 3-6 saves (James often did this as far as I remember), he's usually in the running for bonus points. So quite often James would end up for 4-5-6 points even though he didn't get a clean sheet. I think its worth having a keep like the three I mentioned earlier as it'll save u a fair bit for elsewhere. Plus if you have Niemi as a sub there's always the option of playing him if Fulham have an easy home game.

Just joined up, first time i've done this sort of thing :D

My squad.

-------------------Neimi--------------------

Primus ---- Richards --- Woodgate --- Shorey

Ronaldo -- Gamst Pederson -- Arteta -- Skoko

----------Rooney ---- Berbatov ------------

Subs:
Hahneman, Jagielka, Zamora, Kilbane

think i've got a pretty strong squad.

Remove a player from defence/midfield and put on a player in a different position. The default is 4-4-2, so if you brought off a defender, and stick a midfielder on, it'll automatically change the formation to 3-5-2 for you. Or take off a midfielder and bring a forward on, the formation will go to 4-3-3.

I see. Not a great deal of difference in points between Reina and James, so i may stick with Reina, as he's a safer bet.

edit\ changed my mind, put James in for Reina so that i could afford to put Carra in for Woodgate. So my new side.

---------------------James
--------Carra--------Terry--------Finnan
Ronaldo------Fabregas----Teale--------Johnson
-------McCarthy-----Torres----Berbatov
