Fantasy Football

I dont think either Tevez or Berbatov are gaurenteed games every week, especcially now Spurs have Bent.

Safer options are McCarthy, Johnson, Owen, Anelka(if he stays) etc, as they'll all be first name on the team sheet

I've already made 1 or 2 changes to my original team and I'll proberly make 2 or 3 more before the season starts

Hopefully Barca do me a favour and buy Lampard so I can use my money more wisely :p

I'm in although my team is still an early draft which will probably change completely by the time the season starts.

Wow all your money on basically 3/4 players, Lampard, Rooney and Ronaldo, that could be really good or really bad for the week. But good team thou, tempted to copy it... Here is mine at the moment, might get Shorely instead of Lescott. I've found last season it's better to have an attacking midfielder who score goals or get 5 defender or 3 strikers instead. Thou a friend of mine last season played 4-4-2 and finished in the top 1000 players in the end, he was averaging about 70 points a week, a few times he had over 100 !

Could someone perhaps highlight the "stars" of the promoted teams?

I already have Edwards from Sunderland and Barnes from Derby, but I wouldn't mind knowing which strikers are the usual starters for each teams.

Sunderland:

Connolly 5.5
Murphy 5.5
Stokes 5.0
Elliott 5.0
John 5.0

Birmingham:

Forssell 5.0
Campbell 5.0
Vine 5.0
Jerome 5.5
O'Connor 5.5

Derby:

Earnshaw 5.5
Howard 5.5
Macken 5.0
Fagan 5.0

I have 5m (atm) to use on a sub striker and its always worth the risk in picking up one of these (as proved with Doyle last year). At the moment I have Forssell, best of the bunch for 5m or is someone else likely to play/score more?

Also, who are the set piece takers for the promoted teams, and the captains?

Suppose i'll release my team for public viewing, probably be changes though :) :

Good idea, wouldn't mind knowing this myself!

I find this site very useful for the pre season when deciding some of your cheaper buys, it shows the goals, assists, appearances as well as other stats from the Championship last year so you know whos likely to play often and score.

Struggling so far, and I expect I will make a lot more changes closer to the season, but currently

FC LOLCATS
------------------- Reina ---------------------
---Boyce---Terry--------Lescott---Primus------
-----------------------------------------------
-------Ronaldo-----Lampard----Edwards--------
-----------------------------------------------
-------Berbatov----Drogba(C)----Howard-------

Subs:
Niemi
Pearce
Johnson
Pearson

Will probably try and fit Malouda in there when he signs for Chelsea as well :)

Well since posting that team I've changed it around a bit, I was faced with going with Rooney out of loyalty or using the money more wisely on 2 strikers that combined would proberly get me more points that Wazza. It was a wrench to take him out but I think my team as a whole has benefited from it.

There's still plenty of time left before the season starts if I cant face leaving Rooney out :D

I don't think Hargeaves would be a good buy, he is a defensive midfielder and in this game to get points for midfielders you need goals or assists and he isn't one of them. Hence Matt Taylor was such a revelation last season, the game classed him as a defender last season and Rednapp played him in midfield where scored a few absolute blinder so got loads of points for a defender and even when he didn't score he got points for clean sheets.
