Far Cry 4 due this November

Thanks for these quick responses, all fairly positive then.

I must say when they showed the villain I just sort of thought 'they knew people loved Vaas, let's just repeat that aspect'

But it sounds like he works well with the game.

May grab it, I imagine it looks and runs lovely still on today's hardware?

I wrote this game off at launch as it didn't look too dissimilar to far cry 3 and having played that the year before I wasn't prepared for more of it just yet

However now I'm fairly far removed from that this may feel more fresh, how does it hold up and is it worth picking up? I think I would prefer this to primal tbh

Yeh I loved it, cracking game.

I am now playing 3 which I didn't really bother with before. Some say the story is weak but I thought it was good.

Give it a couple of hours and see how you go tbh ;)

This is the only game that ever crashes on my system, and it doesn't seem to matter what drivers or settings I use.

I played it for hours without any issue, but am stuck in a Shagra-la section, which sometimes crashes whilst playing through but if that doesn't happen it ALWAYS crashes when you activate the bell at the very end, and when the game restarts it puts you back to the very start of the section.

I had to give up in the end.

I don't suppose you have the MSI gaming app installed on your machine? I had a very similar issue back when the game first released and uninstalling the app completely fixed it.

Nope, nothing like that.

I have Asus AI Suite for the overclock, but even disabling that and going to stock CPU/RAM speeds didn't change a thing.

My Graphics cards (Maxwell 2 Titan X SLI) are not overclocked and are hybrid water cooled.

As far as Ubi games go, it's my absolute favourite. I'd even go so far as to say it's one of my favourite open world RPG's generally. There's not too much that separates it from it's predecessor aside from some more fleshed out mission content and additional weapon, skill tree branches etc.

It's Kyrat that makes the game for me. One of the most detail rich game worlds I've ever had the pleasure of playing in. The scale and ambition of the island is insane. It almost feels like I miss it on occasion. It's one of those games I replay annually during the summer drought.

Pagan Min is such a great villain too, despite being criminally underused in the actual plot.

Definately agree the game world shines. Just even roaming around it's easy to get side tracked in either the small skirmish fights, animal attacks or exploring a cave.

I thought 3 was a much better game. Yes, there were some cool additions in 4 to the game play but the story and characters in 3 were excellent, where as in 4 I didn't care for any of the characters and the story was pretty lame. That being said it's still a great game.

For me I think this game suffered from not having as good a map as the previous game. I love the whole tropical island thing. Plus the story was far better.

Don't think I'll bother with Primal.

You must! Primal is better than Far Cry 4. There are some great new gameplay mechanics in it and the scenery is astounding at times.
Agree. Am dreading finishing it as I won't know what to play next that is decent and something I might enjoy. Might have to go back to finish off some old games, maybe play FC3 or 4 again too.

I liked messing around in 3 but i remember the playable character being annoying along with his friends :D

Cant find a great deal on fc4 right now but not in a rush, will keep an eye out!

Finally worked it out, turns out it was SLI.

I know people bang on about poor SLI support but I generally have no issues. However, I disabled SLI and got through the section I was having issues with and the game hasn't crashed since.

Played it for the first time and finished it just before FC5 arrived. I've racked up 80hrs played with still a lot of side missions left. Highly recommend the Valley of the Yetis dlc too if you can get it cheap.

4 has miles more content than 5.

I really enjoyed 4; for what it was it was a corker of a game imho.
