Far Cry 4 due this November

Performance has been pretty good for me since 1.5.0, but at the expense of the draw distance. I can tell you that SMAA with SLI is still broken even as of 1.8.0.
 
I'm still on 1.6 patch as I'm not risking borking the game as it runs so well for me, I'm currently replaying different parts of the game using a whole series of savegames provided by someone on Ubisft forums,I tried leaving Amita & Sabal both alive & also Pagan to see if anything different happens :p
 
One question that I'm almost embarrassed to ask is how the heck does one buy DLC for the game? In Uplay or actually in the game itself through the menus? :confused::o Whenever I see new DLC for FC4 I think, "Oh that's nice. How do I get it?!" :D
 
I just completed the game, im on like 40% Coudnt be bothered with the small details of it, its not as long as i hoped itll be, hopefully they'll make a DLC to carry on campaign missions to get kyrat back on track from the ending. Simply can't end it like that lol, and they'll make money either way^^

Do not buy it in the game itself as there is a bug that triggers the payment but not the download code, I had to make a Paypal claim to get my money back so just go to Ubi.com/store & order it there
 
Earlier this evening I decided to fire up FC4 for the first time in over a month. I was greeted by quite a long download, and now the game reports that it is Ver 1.9.0. I played for a few minutes and it does seem smoother. I had a bit of stuttering before this update, but that seems to have all but gone. :)
 
Did anyone buy the retail PC-DVD and have any issues installing? I picked up the Ltd Edition from Amazon and it's taking an age trying to install it and wondering if it's either trying to download the latest stuff as it goes (doubtful) or the install media is not good or my DVD drive is buggered! It's doing stuff but literally took 30 mins just to get past the common.dat file.. Now on ige.dat and so far about 15 mins.
My DVD drive is old - dates back to about 2009 I think (or 8)

I didn't think it would try to update during the initial install so took a gamble and bought a new internal DVD writer drive. Don't use them much these days do we? Game has now cost double :) but I'm sure the drive will come in useful. Basically my old DVD drive was on the way out and reading really slowly
 
Why is nothing ever easy? With the new DVD-Drive I managed to get FC4 installed. Now when I try to run the game a patch is required and even though I have left it running overnight it's still not downloaded and stuck on 91% where I think it started at 88% anyway (so never started from 0%). I don't have the fastest broadband but the download seems to be happening it very small parts - speed staying at 0B/s for very long periods.

I did try downloading a 2GB-3GB update file as a torent but looked like that was created by some amateur - lots of rar files with zero instructions. Why is it not possible to download the real patch from other sources other than Ubisoft?

Select to play offline & patches don't download, even when you finally get it running select to play offline so Uplay cloud doesn't mess up your saves
 
Just thought I would fire this up and see how it looks. This plays fine for me in 4k on everything Ultra and no AA and AO: SSAO but the 1.90 patch has broken SLI so outdoor textures flicker.

Just been trying some of the suggested fixes and none have worked so far.
